Hi, i'm new to the forums and i hope this is the right place to post my problem.

Yesterday I installed SpywareBlaster, downloaded the latest updates, and enabled all protections. Everything seemed to go ok. Then I tried to shut down my laptop, but the ignominious Windows blue error-screen appeared. It said that the system had crashed and to prevent further damage XP had to restore the registry to a previous state. It also suggested to turn off the laptop and, on the next reboot, to uninstall the hardware or software which might have caused the problem. For starters, the only thing I installed was SB...nothing else, so if it wasn't SB which made my pc crash, then i have no idea what caused the problem.

Anyway, it was impossible to turn off the laptop and i had to manually -sic! - unplug the power. When i rebooted it, a message popped up informing me that XP had restored the registry after an error. I clicked on a button for further info. That's what it was written there
    BCCode : a BCP1 : 00000044 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000
    BCP4 : 804E7F08 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 0_0 Product : 768_1

I'm just about to uninstall SB, but the computer seems to be working now. I'm a little unsure now. Should I go and unisntall it? Is this thing happened to anyone? any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

    Hi boh80, welcome to Wilders.

If your laptop is working fine now, I would leave it as it is. I have never seen SpwareBlaster cause this issue.

Keep an eye on it and let us know how you go...

    Cheers :D

Dump codes are almost always associated with memory or hardware. Please list some of the programs that are running in the background and also your hardware configuration....in particular your video driver.

I doubt I have malicious software running now cos I double checked with every possible anti-spyware, anti-trojan applications.

Once everything became fine that IMHO pretty much eliminated Spywareblaster due to the nature of how it functions. If and\or when it blue screens again could you please post the Stop Code from the BSOD ?

Also....Please have a look in the Event Viewer and see if there are any Error entries about the time this occured. If so....Please post any\all info that you feel might be useful.

Ok, here's what I found. I'm translating this into English so a few words might be different from the English Win messages. Sorry.

In the application log- warning: ID event 1517
Description:Windows saved user xxxx\xx registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in the local system account.

    CAUSE
The event occurs if a program or service has the Registry open while Windows XP is logging off.

In the system log there are no errors, nor messages about the time the computer crashed. There are only 4 info items: eventlog ID event 6005, eventlog id event 6009, save Dump ID event 1001 -The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0x00000044, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804e7f0:cool: A dump was saved in C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini112705-01.dmp- , eventlog ID event 6006.
However, there was an error about the time I rebooted the laptop this morning.
    System error - category 102 - ID event 1003 -error code 0000000a, parameter1 00000044, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 804e7f08.

That's about it. I have no idea what all the above means, btw.
