Sony sued over new Playstation terms of service

    That's becoming fairly common, actually. You'll be seeing more companies go this route.

    Yeah I found that bit really ridiculous.

    I hope Sony loses this case hard for the sake of consumers - and not just those who use Sony's products. As dw said, this will become standard if companies can get away with it.

    The courts are increasingly siding with these kinds of policies. Look how the telecom/government issue turned out, you can't sue them either. Granted that's a bit of a different issue, but the same attitude applies.

    What the hell are people supposed to do when they lose money thanks to Sony's security woes?

    Not a damn thing. This is purely them passing the buck on to users and claiming they aren't responsible for loss of data.
