Using RSS, I lurk this thread, among others, for its newsworthiness and a couple of comments hit the mark with me.

    But it's too late.

As well, I don't believe we will soon have much of a choice anymore.

Well, the smartphone market is basically a duopoly. So Android and iOS ought to be regulated as utilities.

    Yup.

Not my only financial institution, but with one of the world's largest banks, I've had a savings account, a checking account and a Visa and a Master credit card for 28 years, half my adult life. About 15 years ago they went full online and I've since engaged in two to three dozen transactions a month using a hardened browser on an Ethernet/cable connected desktop PC.

I recently found out that with an NFC phone and their Android or Apple app, if I have a Google Pay or Apple Pay "digital wallet" into which I would authorize (but not limited to) my ATM card number and online banking credentials, I can withdraw up to $1200 cash daily from their ATM machines

How much with just my dinky EMV ATM card? $300.

Get Google or Apple involved? $1200.
