I know that there are a few threads over here which deal with similar issues, however I found none of them extensive enough nor satisfactory :) I would like to get a sort o mini-list going, where everyone can post a few things which, in his mind, should be considered when connecting to a public/unoprotected wifi. There is no need for extensive explanations (although you are of course free to include them if you wish); what I am hoping for is just a simple 1. 2. 3. list which can serve as a reference for anyone interested in this subject. Even the most tiny details would be appreciated. I'll start with the basics:

    1. Disable file / device sharing.

    2. Always use a VPN when dealing with sensitive data. Actually, always use VPN - period.

    3. Use a well-configured firewall, block all ports except the ones that are required for your connection to function properly.

    4. Change the default password to your system's Admin account, if you haven't done so already.

Appreciate the intent, however, rather than starting yet another thread which may or may not be more suitable please join one of the other existing threads and pose your question there. Thank you.
