Progressive Uses 'Black Box' to Monitor Drivers

"The Associated Press is reporting that a new "high-tech monitoring device" makes it possible to reduce—or, possibly, raise—insurance premiums for drivers based on their day-to-day driving habits."

SO FAR, it does not track where you drive to, just how fast you accelerate, how many times you stop, what time of day you drive, and such. Sorry, but I gotta go paranoid on ya again, lol.....why could this not easily catch on to other providers, who, to save payouts and "help make the highways safer", not push for this to become law.....and why could law enforcement not take a look and say "hey, crime fighting tool!", and we all end up with GPS tracking units in all our cars? Isn't it only a matter of logistics? I mean, we have the technology to do it and a lot more, we just haven't used it for that purpose...yet.

If they implement this and take my commuting to work into account, then I should be charged close to a ZERO premium.

 

Lol, can't be a high risk driver in bumper to bumper traffic

 

But you can be a high insurance risk in it. Every minute of the day that your car is outside your driveway, or actually "running" is another minute that vehicle is at risk from being in an accident. (IE: Rear Ended in that freeway parking lot.)
