I downloaded and installed the eval version of PE. After that, every time I tried to use Outlook Express, it was shut down by a critical system error. As soon as I uninstalled PE, OE worked fine.

    XP Home, latest patches.

    Want thr dump?

Yep, running them fine together but i'm no XP user.
Looks like a system file matter ?

From one of Jasson's postings here:
"Did you download something like AWPTA or some older firewall whilst PE was installed? If this problem ever occurs all you need to do is reinstall the conflicting software, a program called LSPFix will help you identify the conflicting program.

    ""
Hope running this little thing can help in this case for you too!

I'll try lspfix. In the meantime, this is a hard (reproducible) error, and I'm sending Pilli the dump data.

Thanks, both of you. Let me know if you want the full Visual Studio debug workspace, okay?

For your OE it could mean after the LSP fix, running from add/remove the repair for IE which includes OE and explorer at a time. Might help, i hope.
Else waiting for Jason's further instructions.

I need more information so please send me the dump too. There is no direct conflict between OE and Port Explorer, I guess some other software is conflicting with having PE loaded, maybe a mail scanner/firewall/or another LSP layered software. Take a screenshot of LSPFix running also and post it here.

    Jason, dump sent to you.

Sorry, haven't got the hang of irfanview yet. All lspfix says is:

    mswsock.dll tcpip
    winnt.dll NTDS
    rsvpsp.dll (protocol handler)

I take it Port Explorer was uninstalled when you ran LSPFix because its not in there?
