It makes me wonder how good java is, when they can't even design the software to automatically remove previous versions when updating.....................Like the rest of the industry does.

It does now usually. Older versions didn't however.

Installing 7 will not remove 6, which means that while users may keep one version up to date they may leave the other version behind.

They should really have it remove 6.

    OK.

I'm getting You have the recommended Java installed (Version 6 Update 32) on their site. I only just updated it today! I wish they were a bit better at informing people about current updates.

So Oracle wants us to update. They had better speak to the US government before talking to us!

I had the JRE version 7 series on my work PC. I had a US govt Java form due last week. Tried to run the form and it was a no go. Downgraded to JRE 6 update 31 and it ran fine. Loads of fun figuring that out!

To top that, I updated to JRE 6 update 32 today. It acted like it installed fine but when finished, no Java icon in the XP Control Panel and no way to launch javaws from the Run command. So, I downgraded again back to 6 update 31. This is working ok.

Really happy with Java lately. Gives me something to do beyond my normal work!!!

I don't know which loses me the most productivity time &/or infuriates or worries me the most, Adobe flash or Java.

Surely Oracle could have come up with (or simply buy) a tool like 'JavaRa' and use it as an updater, if only out of self-interest. link

Run Chrome and updating Flash is no longer a problem (which is good, considering, what, like a new version every other week? Lol). I really wish Java as a plugin would die. I still need it for LibreOffice and a few other things, but wished I could show it the door for a final time.

I like Chrome, but I prefer Firefox/SeaMonkey. The only other WebKit browser that has really impressed me is (Portable Apps) Maxthon.

Yeah, I need OpenOffice & hence, need Java. Which I need like a hole in he head!
