NOD32 DOS question

Posting in NOD32 v2 since I'm not sure where to post and I assume that DOS version can be used as rescue disk (??) which is my question, is DOS version compatible with my up-to-date NOD32 v2 on my w2k, can DOS version be booted from rescue disk, or eg, run in BartPE. where are links for good info about DOS version, assuming the DOS version is viable as rescue disk for w2k ntfs, or is this something not to be pursued? thanks

 

You cannot access ntfs drives from dos.

No you can't.
That link go to a program that you have to run from dos BEFORE you can access ntfs drives.
As I said, you cannot access ntfs from dos.

 

You can use AVDisk to pack the DOS version of NOD32 into a bootable set of 3 floppy disks, including a utility which offers NTFS support:

The latest version 9.2d (which I haven't tried yet) apparently includes a new version of QMS, which might solve the one minor problem I had with version 9.2c; if not, see this thread:

Make sure your DOS version is using the latest virus signature file nod32.000 - one way to do this is simply to install Nod32dos.exe in the same folder as the Windows version (default C:\Program Files\ESET), which gets updated automatically.

pc-support ---> Maybe I am missing something, but this program allows you to access NTFS drives from DOS environment (even from MS-DOS boot diskette). I don't care if it's before, after or during.

 

I think he's being just too literal. Technically yes "DOS all by itself" won't deal with NTFS.

 

Thanks, I revisited AVdisk today (10nov) and I see link to what they say is current 9.2c, but then the link fails with a msg in german, which google translates (paraphrase) The desired side was not found...

I will continue to unravel AVdisk, si ntfsdos, nod32dos. thanks!

 

That's odd - are you using a different link to AVDisk than I am? If I follow the one I gave above:

then the Download link from there (http://www.avdisk.org/pages/en/download.html) leads to a page which starts as follows:

"Version 9.2d has been adapted to changes in AVG. (Thanks to Chris Ratkowski.) Furthermore, small changes in the startup system were applied and an updated QMS was added."

Further down that page there's a link that reads "AVDisk version 9.2d - Current release (recommended)"
