No license key?

Right now, Im running a trial version of Smart security, however I am trying to figure out the licensing concept.
It is my assumption that they use a "USERNAME" and "PASSWORD" method of authenticating the subscriptions instead of a license key? Am I correct?
and the user name and password are given at the time of installing the software?

Is this password changeable? or are we stuck with it forever?
What if I buy a 3 user license and due to any reason want to change the password in the middle of the subscription period, will I have to change the passwords on all 3 computers? Or will they continue to download updates?

Sorry for the long question, I am just a little curious.

You can not change the Username or Password, they are provided by ESET.

So we cant change the password at all? For the sake of an argument, what if we belive that the password has been compromised or sotlen? even then we cant request the support to change the pass or user ID associated to the licence?

Not for a Trial license. A purchased one would most likely be changed for you. Keeping the ESET naming convention though.
