I'm getting ready to have a computer built for me and was wondering what the difference between 32 and 64 bit processors is. I don't do much multi-tasking, but I do some online gaming. Am I ok with the 32 bit or the 64 bit OS?
Are you talking about processors or operating systems? All modern CPUs support x64. If you're talking about the OS then you should definitely go with x64. Why? Why not? Imagine you buy a 32-bit OS and then you want to upgrade to 4GB of RAM? Fat chance. You'd only be able to use 3GB. And x64 is future-proofing.
You have to tailor that with the caution to be sure all the software you want to run will run on X64. Not all will.
I am yet to discover one that won't run on x64. If you're talking about stone-age 16-bit apps then, well...
well my sister is running 64bit vista and it works well. not all secuirty software will work on 64bit. or is limited at this time. but the secuirty i use works fine on it.
I doubt that will happen. Businesses are slow to change, and the programs they run may not run on 64bit. It would mean they would never move to that OS. Pete
