well this one should launch your upgrade process.
if the slideup doesn't open you could try to run this file. you need admin rights to upgrade

So far everything seems to be fine, except (I don't know whether a new thread should be started) I can see 2 things that are somewhat strange: in Configuration\Scanner\Scan\Additional settings, if I check "Integrity checking of system files" and "Follow symbolic links", a full system scan gets stuck at about 21% revving my CPU at 60%; needless to add that unchecking these two buttons allows the scanner to run.

The other thing is about the "MailGuard": if I disable it(I don't need it, as I use Gmail), the Avira Umbrella in the tray folds in as if Avira was totally disabled.

could you please try to find out which of these two settings is causing the problem. and if possible to report it in the avira forum. will be easier to search for reasons there.

this behavior is correct. if you do not need the mailguard, you can uninstall it via setup.exe in avira installation folder.

What's "Integrity checking of system files" ?

Also there is a small glitch in the AHeAD wizard. See the two dots instead just one in the end of description?

Leo2005, thank you for your prompt reply (post # two hundred and eight).

You are right, as full system scans take some time to run (and one full system scan has completed) I can't really tell you yet which of the the two buttons mentioned above is responsible for blocking the scanner. I have mentioned both because they were the new things that I have activated before the scan.

As soon as I have some more info I'll post here and in the Avira forum.

this option checks systemfiles for their digital signatures and if they were modified.

    "Integrity check on system files

When this option is enabled, the most important Windows system files are subjected to a particularly secure check for changes by malware during every on-demand scan. If an amended file is detected, this is reported as suspect. This function uses a lot of computer capacity. That is why the option is disabled as the default setting."

So basically AVIRA has the list of files that have digital signature.
If one of those files doesn't have it (modified), user is alerted.

An update:I'm a bit lost with the results, I ran 3 more scans with each one of the settings and together again, everything seems to work normally now... I suppose there is no need to investigate any further from my part, but my first two scans definitely blocked at around 21% (maybe because the program had just installed).

The e-mail uninstall tip also worked perfectly, so I can only say great, Avira's new version seems to be very impressive.

I experienced something similar to yours. Did you tick the "Follow symbolic links" option? After unticking that, the scan completed on my system.

This is exactly my point: the first two scans blocked because of either and/or "Follow symbolic links" - "Integrity checking of system files". The following 3 scans I tried each one separately and together again, but this time the scans always completed in any situation.
