As you may have read in other threads , there is a plan for a new version of Look 'n' Stop !

This post if to get feedback on a planned feature called one clic rule import.

    One clic rule import
will make it possible to import one or multiple rules of a .rie rules' file through a single clic on a URL.

For example, the user will simply clic on a URL like netmeeting.rie and all netmeeting rules will automatically be imported on top of the internet filtering ruleset.

No need to download the file, clic on import from Internet Filtering, browse to get the downloaded file, select the rules, apply the new rules, save the new ruleset, ...

Of course, the objective is to make it easier for users to import rules.

The .rie file to import will be sent as a parameter to a local port of the PC.

The URL to clic will allow importing a .rie file either
relative to www.looknstop.com like for example :
    http://127.0.0.1:5000/?rie=Fr\rules\netmeeting.rie
or absolute (for rules imported from other web sites than www.looknstop.com)
    http://127.0.0.1:5000/?rie=www.anywebsite.com/ftp.rie

Thank you in advance for your feedback on this feature which we hope will be helpful.

    Regards,
    JF

Sounds a great idea. I think rules are the biggest headache for real amateurs, but also people never know whereabouts to place them.

As well as making them easy to import-a guide to placement is also required.

Yeah thats definitely a good idea, it can be a little bothersome having to manually copy and paste the rules. Plus for the average user it will make things way easier.

    Hi,
Nice idea, but I'd rather suggest a .rie file handling in explorer as follow :
    - double-click rie file to open "import rules" dialog.
    - a right-click context menu "import rules" for rie file.

Good mix between techie/newbie expectations ;)

    Very good usability improvement.

Could you also consider making it so that people do not accidentally download/activate rules they don't want?

I.e a toggle for "warn when importing rules" or some similar feature.
