    Isso,

Presuming that means I won't be able to test cold-recovery until after the final is released, I have to tell you that's disappointing. :(

I am sure there are many of us who would like to have our dream program ready to go yesterday. My pet function has been slated for release 2 to 5 months from now and while I am a bit disappointed about that I fully understand the necessity to get the program released ASAP with functions and features that serve most users. I am just glad to see AX64 nearing general release and am willing to wait until what I want is added to the program in what the developer deems the appropriate time frame. In short patience is appropriate, the 2 months will go by pretty quickly I am sure.

    Cruise,

Sorry about it. I would really want each and every customer to be satisfied with the program, but it's just technically impossible (as bgoodman4 perfectly explained).
For this particular Intel RST issue - let me explain to you the problem, so you fully see the situation. The developer responsible for WinPE module creation has left our company. I could move another developer to this task, but we are all very busy, and it'll take time to learn that code before someone is able to make fixes to it. So I simply cannot afford that at this moment. If this was a critical issue, I would do that, but I don't consider it so, because some of the Intel RST users reported WinPE working for them properly.
    Hope this makes sense.

    @bgoodman4 & Baldrick,

Please understand that what I requested has nothing to do with a 'dream program'. It's just that there is no way for me to test a cold-recovery as the AX64 boot-disk simply does not see my HDD!

About 2 months ago I fully cooperated with Isso's personal request for me to collect certain system information and email it to him regarding this issue so that he could address and correct it. So after all that time had passed I was disappointed that the problem had not yet been remedied. I hope you now have a better understanding for the disappointment I voiced.

    Isso,

I now understand your dilemma for the AX64 boot-disk development delay - to discover and implement the Intel RST drivers (which is vital to properly boot systems such as mine). Therefore I will patiently wait until your team has the time to address and remedy this issue.

Thanks for explaining the situation to me.

Have been beating my brains out trying to get the right button (the one that says view/recover backups) to work. Right clicked, left clicked, double clicked. Nothing?

Hey Isso. Decided to give build 932 a try and I'm facing the same error code on my Win7 64bit box. Is there a newer build available?

Guys, I've uploaded new version 1.0.956 to www.ax64.com.
timmy, MarcP, the issues that you experienced with version 932 should be fixed.

    Following is the full changelist:

    - Merge function completely changed - now it takes more time, but is fully immune to power failures and crashes
    - First backup after OS boot is delayed by 5 min to not interfere with startup programs and to allow network drives to initialize
    - Fixed a bug where intermittent unscheduled backups were made
    - Fixed broken handling of backups located on network drives
    - Fixed broken Windows XP support
    - Fixed failing backup when bootstat.dat system file is missing

Hi Isso. Just to let you know that i havent found any issues with this latest version.

Can you give an estimate as to when the chkdsk function will be fixed after public release?

Hi test. In reading your issue, I noticed that you listed your account as "user: standard". I'm thinking that you need to run from an Admin Account for AX64 to install properly.

I could be off base here but i thought i would mention it just in case. ;)

    carfal,

I'm happy to hear that it works fine for you. For checkdisk function - it will require a major program redesign, and will take approximately 2-3 months, sorry for delay.

    Hi test,

I guess old version of AXTM is running in the background, and it has a bug that prevents it from exiting when installation of a new version begins. Just exit the program by clicking on the tray icon and selecting Exit. Then the installation should proceed.

Hmm, then looks like the program doesn't have enough privileges as carfal mentioned, but that's really strange, because it should always run as admin. Could you try to run the setup by right clicking and choosing Run as administrator?

    ok, my fault!

Anyway i don't understand why installer doesn't ask for elevation if standard privileges aren't enough...

I'll check for you baby, txs!!! :thumb: :D

    test, carfal, thank you!

I'll check why it doesn't elevate.

Thanks for the update, Isso. Been running it for a day and Macrium woke up in between to do a backup. No conflicts.

Forgive me if I ask something that's been asked earlier, but this thread is a monster to browse through... I see that AXTM only keeps about 3 snapshots and merges the rest. Is there any way to increase the number of snapshots to keep? Right now I only have snapshots for the past 3 hours and then the main backup.

    Thanks again!

    Marc,

AXTM should keep more than 3 snapshots, in fact it merges snapshots in following way: it keeps last 3 hourly snapshots, then 4-hour snapshots for last day, daily snapshots for last week, weekly snapshots for last month, monthly for last year and yearly afterwards.

So maybe by some reason the program or the machine wasn't running for entire day? If you are sure that the PC was on, and AXTM was running, please send to me the logs by clicking on top left corner, selecting About... then Collect Logs. Please also send a screenshot of your output folder (AXTM) Thank you

I've only been running it since this morning at 8:30am where it created the main snapshot. Every hour throughout the day, it took a new snapshot at the top of the hour and then merges the "3hrs ago" snapshot.

So far it seems to follow what you described, but 3 hourly snapshots for today seems short.

I see, thank you for the picture. May I ask you to leave it running for several more hours and post another screenshot? Thank you
