Just wondering (as you do sometimes) when you clean installed 10 did you delete all other partitions and then let Windows do its own thing and install to the one that was left?
plat1098, It could be any component of your hardware but start with checking RAM. Overnight memtest86 in addition to the Microsoft testing. These tests aren't 100% so if you have extra RAM, try it instead of your current.
stapp: no, I will have to try that sometime. Brian K: thank you for helping out, memtest was done some time ago and results were good. I've also swapped out my current RAM for some cheap Hyundai stuff I had lying around and no difference. None. It's probably benign and something so simple it defies being identified. It doesn't bother much. The machine runs so well otherwise, it's often forgotten altogether. Next time I'm at the store, I'll get another HDMI cable and try that too. There was a power surge recently....
...since June 2016, when I bought my Microsoft Surface Book. I don't believe it is necessary to format/reinstall. At least from my experience/needs.
