Wayne graciously explained to me that my problems are probably a combination of the following things:

    1. A dummy (me) using advanced features that were designed for professionals. Trust me, I'm not a professional.

    2. Environmental conditions (local to me) such as my router possibly erroneously filtering or even modifying packets destined only for my LAN, or any number of other possibilities. For what it's worth, I trust Wayne over the dweeb I spoke with at Linksys.

I'm deeply sorry for wasting so much of DCS's time. I realize that remote scanning isn't what's important here. As far as LAN scanning, I'm convinced that there is something I'm missing here in my configuration. It is impossible for me to consistently duplicate the results I've been crying over, therefore it's not possible (or fair) to think that it's TDS-3's fault and not mine.

I'm confident that all this will be incorporated into the new TDS-4, along with changes to the documentation to help crybabies like me understand that just because the tools are there, it doesn't mean I'll know how to use them.

I fear I've taken too much time from the developers, who could better spend their time finishing TDS-4 and replying to support requests that are related to the detection and eradication of trojans ~~ which all my bitching wasn't about. Again, I apologize to one and all here for this.

    As punishment, I promise to:
    1. Keep my mouth shut for the most part.
    2. Listen and learn instead of blindly acting...then crying when I don't know what's going on.
    3. Send more money to DCS. (they deserve it!)

Really, think about it. We all get free daily updates, 2 forums to gather at, a full-time DCS employee who's only job is to catch and dissect trojans, a full-time support@ address to get help from, a free upgrade to the next TDS release, and the best antitrojan application in existence.

    I feel like a jerk. :( (don't worry, I'll get over it.)

Last but not least, I apologize for wasting 5 pages of posts here. I hope you can all find it in yourselves to forgive me.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

    Regards,
    Hilly.

Hmm.... if that were Wayne's words, then for sure they're really busy (no doubt).
Give yourself time in the learning process. We all learn from it and your postings, knowing now our frontieres of knowledge, and from there where to work on.
Some day you'll include your finds in a manual about LAN setups and scanning, meaning of netstat results, the router and what might be expected, etc. You've got several illustrations now. A lot has to be googled for and will be digging in forums and at the router developer support department (manuals).
Might become a best seller (e-book?) which you can gracefully add to the support pages.
