This sums it up pretty well.

It's a shame that people are making money from stuff like this when there are others who put significant time into resolving real security topics, sometimes at a personal financial loss, but for the betterment of the community.

This software does nothing that you can't control directly in Chrome. It takes the menu selections is chrome://settings and puts them into a different GUI. These settings are one time things that you'd do in Chrome when you install the browser or create the profile. Ghostery and other extensions can clear your cache & all that stuff with a nice graphical interface, they don't need be part of your operating system's startup services and extensions aren't a constant OS background service.

Chrome doesn't have a user ID unless you enable sending usage statistics to Google. ALL Chrome copies have an installation ID which no 3rd party program can do anything about. It's used for the first Chrome update, then is removed. Google Updater is what updates Chrome. Remove or disable it and you're stagnant at whichever version you installed. Your search history is part of your Google account (if you even have one) and is totally disconnected from Chrome or anything local on your computer. Chrome shouldn't be touching the Windows index.dat file system. Google Earth shouldn't be either, it has its own .dat.index. You don't have a computer ID you can hide simply by installing a program like this. You have a MAC address (sometimes several), system fingerprint, network user name, browser geolocation services, nearby wifi access points, IP address, etc. That said, why doesn't this program disable geolocation too?

Google Desktop was discontinued in Sept of 2011. Both Windows and Gmail have their own search features.

You're much better off spending 15 Euros on a REALLY good sandwich.

It's interesting to see that a lot of people believe that by blocking Google they're attaining some additional "security".

10x all for the reply but one thing i cant get , why ppl think google spying on them with google chrome should be accepted o_O

yes i know i can use srware iron or comodo dragon or even chrome plus (coolnavo) in order to avoid google tracking stuff.

but i just ask a simple question since i want to use google chrome (fast fix update and secuirty hole also) , is that software i mention DOES what it claim to do?? or its a fake....:doubt:

demoneye, no, I don't "have experience with" the Ablesoft product you linked to.
I do believe they have crafted their product "in earnest"; I also believe the product will, in fact, fail to entirely prevent privacy leakage (leaked via those enumerated Google products).

    Let's take Picassa, for example.
Although described as a desktop app... it's too-eerily (in my opinion) integrated with PicassaWeb.
Among its "super wonderful" features, it can slurp your imagefiles to the mothership, perform facial recognition, and automagically tag your images with the names of recognized persons. Can you opt out? Can you disable this feature? Can you force Picassa to perform JUST as a desktop app, instead of acting as an automated (and pre-authorized, per install TOS) tendril of the the Google HiveMind? Good luck with that (at a minimum, I'd suggest remaining from the 'net while running Picassa "desktop" app)... and Ablesoft conveniently (convenient for THEM, in touting their GoogleClean app) ignores this potential "leakage" vector.

Overall, the Ablesoft claims are WAY too vague:
    "Find and delete Google traces"
    ?!?
Anyone who's inspired to trust, and buy from, Ablesoft based on such crapola verbiage, well... it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round, eh?

Not security, but a little privacy. Something that people don't seem to care about anymore. ;)

Easiest way is to run Chromium (The open source version) all this stuff is stripped out and the stuff that isn't can be if you know what you are doing (doesn't take much either).
