If somebody has the right equipment, yes it's possible. But i doubt that somebody will do this investigation.

    Hi to all,

The 3 addresses mentioned here were my mirrors.
Those were up and running for two days.
1st and 2nd are locked down by the server-admins because of the trafic caused by the DDoS (25.000 http get requests per second).
3rd server is up again (gateway was malfunctioning because of the DDoS), but the GMER files are removed by the administrator of the server.

gmer is working on getting register.com to point the A record to gmer.net's new location. Unfortunately, register.com's support service for this is painful.

One of those was my mirror too. We also suffered a massive DDoS attack against gmer so have had to take it down permanently. Sorry :doubt:

Anyone is able to be shut down by a DDoS, including CastleCops. Lets face it, todays botnets are vast and huge.

Very true and hopefully with this situation those bots will report back to those responsible that they can run but they can't hide

This incidence has far reaching effects other than GMER in the big scheme of things IMHO.

On the phone with my register.com contact, turns out the issue was with legal and that their support was unable to re-access the information. However, gmer.net as of a couple minutes ago is now resolving to my server. I'm already seeing steady traffic coming in to http://gmer.net.

I would hate for someone to take over a site that I made. If I made a site. Must be scary. Oh and NICE avatar TNT my fave monster in DOOM.

    Neither can I. :(

I hope that GMER is getting all the assistance required to identify (I should say 'prove') who is doing this, a lengthy prison sentence for culprit(s) will be the outcome hopefully.

    Regards,

I can reach this site, but it is very slow, so I guess it is under massive DDoS attack. I suggest to stop useless attempts to resurrect this site and simple wait for some time until bots will not die.

    I see we never met.

Anyway... Yipes our provider is having unrelated issues. They are working on it.

As to gmer.net, I'll not mention more publicly.
