What about an option during setup for 'NOD32 Multi-Kernal Mode' to further enhance scanning performance on hyperthreading or multicore CPU's?

I guess there may be some situations that could need to be filtered out, like having one kernal try and scan an archive container file while the other is trying to get it unpacked for scanning individual files from within it's contents, that might be slower - but who knows it still may be faster that way :)

The memory used by running an extra copy of the kernal wouldn't be an issue (at least to me) on any system with 512MB or more...

    Just a happy thought :)

    Cheers :)

Would be nice to see a top AV like NOD32, fully integrated with other browsers/email than IE/outlook (like Firefox/Thunderbird or Opera ).

IMO antispam definately needs to be under user control. Doesn't matter to me if that happens at the mailbox or the desktop... If it was the only choice I would rather get all the rubbish into my mail client and have to sort it there manually and that would still be preferable to having things disappear without my knowledge or instruction...

    Cheers :)

I'd quite like to see ESET make the addition of an ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus System Splash Screen after inital Boot and before than Windows XP Loading Splash is shown informing the user that the system is protected with the product a la Symantec Norton GoBack 4.1 and suchlike, not that I use Symantec products myself and this is purely asthetic but I think it would draw far more attention to the system as well as look rather interesting. I'd also like to see integration with Windows Explorer and if possible, a dedicated section within the Windows XP Control Panel for simplistic configuration for when ESET release their Security Suite in the near future. :)

That would be fine for those who want it, but for some, such as myself, the icon in the task bar is sufficient.

Therefore, if the splash screen is adopted, then Setup should have a method to turn it off.

sch1sm - for teh splash screen u suggest, i believe nod32 would have to modify the mbr so that could be a problem for people using fd-isr or rollback and the such.

and for explorer integration, what do u mean specifically? nod32 already has a context item for scanning objects.

WSFuser - I was looking for the possibility of being able to manually configure NOD32 Anti-Virus System through Internet Explorer / Windows Explorer via the buttons such as "Back - Forward" and suchlike, in the same panel but allowing you to report malicious websites, Phishing websites and suchlike and I also feel that Eset would benefit its customers greatly if they adopted a "Website Advisor" a la McAfee or Netcraft and the like, I don't particularly like the current offerings and don't have either of these tools installed.

I'll second this because the so called McAfee Site Advisor is really good and helpful peace of software. It tells you which sites you can visit and which you should not . I myselft use it on some machines.

On the other hand , NOD32 already include something similar. If you set your browser to "Higher efficently" mode (Active mode) and set it to automatically deny infected files , then every malicous site is blocked.

But such a utility is excellent , Prevention is always better than cure! :thumb: :D :thumb:

i dont know if its been mentioned, but the on-demand scanner should have an option similar to Kaspersky's "Scan new and changed Files only". this would make subsequent scans faster.

Two additional options, possibly on the quarantine tab - 'Add detection' and 'Remove detection' to operate as follows:-

    Add Detection
    • Mark the selected file to be detected
    • add the file to quarantine with appropriate user entered notations
    • submit the file for analysis
    • have an option to include modification to the local mirror update when it is active on that PC
    • be automatically overridden if subsequently added to detection by ESET

Remove detection (mostly for intervention on occasion of FP or specific unwanted detection I know some people like to use stuff with crap in it...)
    • restore the file from quarantine
    • Mark the file to be ignored / excluded from detection by all modules
    • submit the file for analysis with appropriate user entered notations
    • have an option to include modification to the local mirror update when it is active on that PC
    • be automatically overridden if any removal from detection by ESET

    Cheers :)

Option to bulk submit files from quarantine with ThreatSense filtering still applied for samples ESET already have copies of.
(or does that already happen if I select multiple files in quarantine and right click?)

    Cheers :)

I came in here to post the exact same suggestion :)
it seems quite a popular feature of KAV/KIS, so yes I would like to see the option in NOD 3.0

I am kicking the tyres on the eval version and am impressed so far. My wish list is brief:

    1. For the 'Scanning Log' and 'Threat Found! Details' windows, a user ought to be able to click " [] X " style buttons to restore/maximise window size. Dragging window-corners is cumbersome.
    2. Columns in 'Scanning Log' view and 'Threat Found! Details' view ought to allow intelligent* viewing of VERY long file paths that cannot be displayed in the available column width. Increasing column width to full screen is not wide enough even at 1280x1024 resolution!
    *Intelligent view might be:
    • line wrapping; line breaks after the "\" character; indent wrapped lines.
    • the ability to highlight one or more lines and copy that text to the clipboard
    • a pair of "< >" scroll buttons in the column header
    • a right-click-menu "Information" style action to pop up a view that includes the entire pathname.

    P.S.
I just discovered the command line switch:
/wrap+ (-) Enable (disable) wrapping text in log
but I plan to wait for my current scan to complete before trying that out.

I have a question. Doesn't KAV/KIS scan those files again after updating virus signature databaseo_O
If it DOES scan those files again, it is useless feature because as we all know KAV/KIS is updated really frequently.
If it does NOT, it is strange because if scanned files were infected by unknown virus and KAV/KIS marked those files as clean they wouldn't be scanned after updating KAV. And what if signature for that particular virus was added to database? So they will stay "undetected"... or am I wrong?

Hope you understand what I mean.. (sorry for my english)

i got an idea what about better self protection, i have read that you can disable nod32 witrh a program called advanced process killer ans then nod32 comes back. so what about protection so it cant be disabled just like the new spysweeper self protection which even stops you from stopping it in taskmanager

It's extremely hard to disable NOD32 by design.

    Feature request

First of all, sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum...

I would like to see the results of an on demand scan more prevelant. Maybe green for good / red for bad? Or bold, etc...

    Thanks

what about making it so nod32 doesnt hook on the winsocket so much because it does seem to be a serious problem. no other av seems to do this
