I have disk director suite 10:-

I installed fedora core-4, but it is not detedted by the os-selector.

Is there anyway to dual-boot fedora core-4 with windows using Acronis os-selector........................

I bought this product to install fedora on my system, and now people are asking me to go for grun. I can not let all that money I spent on Acronis-DDS10 go to garbage. Despite I love the graphical interface of Acronis os-selector 8.0. Please tell me how to dual-boot fedora with windows.

Dont ask me to use grub. I hate grub. I am afraid of it.

    Please help me.....

    Hello sahibvirk,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Partition and Disk Managing Software.

Please be aware that Acronis OS Selector supports Fedora Core 4 operating system. Please note that you should install this operating system after Windows installation.

Could you please clarify whether you have tried to detect your Fedora Core 4 operating system using OS Detection Wizard of Acronis OS Selector?

Please create Acronis Report as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

Please submit a request for technical support. Attach the collected file to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.

All right, this is what had actually happened :-

I already had a computer running win-98 and win-xp together on one 80gb hdd. Then I installed your product and it was booting booth the OS's perfectly. I thought I would be able to even boot linux that I always wanted.

I ordered the fedora core-4 cd's and a new 80gb hdd. Then I created three 20gb primary partitions on the hdd2 with ext3 filesystems. And I left 20gb space unlocated because there is an option in the installer that you can let the installer itself install the fedora in the unlocated space in the computer. And so it did. But I did not select the boot-loader installation cause it would have overtaken acronis. I selected"dont install any boot loader". Then installer itself partitioned the 20gb unlocated space and installed fedora on it.

Then I turned on the system and didnt see fedora in the acronis options. Then I even tried to detect fedora with the Os detection wizard. But nothing was detected.

I went to DDS10 and found out that installer had made two logical partitions, one of type ext3 and the other of type LVM file system.

I need the rest of the 60gb space to install other os's. Dont ask me to use this free space too.

So, please tell me how to install fedora for acronis os selector.

    Hi sahibvirk,

I have used Fedora 1 and Fedora 3 with the previous version of OS Selector with no problems. It's been a while since I did it, but when you install Fedora, you will still need to use a Linux loader like GRUB or lilo, but pick the option that puts it on Fedora's boot partition rather than as part of the MBR. This will allow OS Selector to work properly.

    Hope this helps.

Can you please tell everyone what you did to be able to get your Fedora partition to boot?

I have WinXP and added Fedora 4 on the same disk and OS Selector wizard can't find Fedora but sees WinXP only.

    Can anyone help?

I can't begin to explain all the problems I've encountered while using DDS10. I purchased the product because I thought it would save me the headache of doing partitions and dual boots manually. But I think I could have done what I wanted manually four times over by now.

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Partition and Disk Managing Software.
