    Hi:

When I boot my cp (HP Pavilio), I have the following error:
Error: resource conflict - PCI in slot 01
    bus:01, device:08, function:00

F1 to setup F2 to resume
if I press f2, I have other error (invalid system disk)

First I thought the hard disk has a problem. so I change the boot sequence to CD rom. Then press f2 with the bootable cd in it, but I still have the same error. Do you know what the problem with my cp? thanks

    hai,

Is this for a Win95/98 operating system or which? Does your pc boot all the way into windows when the error surface's?
Open Device Manager and scroll down to System Devices, dbl clk PCI bus, then view the *resource* tab .... showing any conflict's?

Can you reach safe-mode (continually pressing F8 as the system load's)?
Did this error surface after installing an externally connected device?

I loaded the windows 2000 Pro., but it still displays that error. I have to press F2 for it to boot windows. After that, everything is fine.

Honestly I don't know if this error surface after installing an externally connected device? it does not belong to me until this point. Thanks. I don't install any device for it.

Oh OK, you got the pc with this error (nice)? Go into Device Manager like I suggested after booting windows and go through it as described in this article. Keep me posted if you can determine the conflict area in question, it may be a sound or video card that's causing the problem.

the modem has a problem. when I looked at the resource tab of the modem, it says "This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem." when I install the driver for it, it seems to pick up this driver "HP Pavilion Win2K Smart Lucent V.90 Win Modem Drivers ", but it has an error "this device cannot start (code 10) and the location is PCI slot 1 (PCI bus 1, device 8, function 0) in the general tab which is exact error that i have when this pc starts up. So my question is what the problem with this modem (hardware or the driver). thanks

I was getting to this - "I took the modem out, the system does not give any error." - as suspected.

Thank's for the info hai, I'll see what I can round up.

Forgot .... are you connected exclusively by modem? Be aware if trying another pci slot that your properly grounded.

I have 3 pci slots. One for the modem, one for the Nic and one available. Let me try different slot. Thanks

I try different slot, it works fine. What is the problem? Is it the problem with the slot? thanks

    Hai,

If swapping slot's cured the condition, great. Whether the slot/plug is good or not would require both closer inspection and specific testing equipment. If the previous owner had once removed it then for some reason re-installed it, a few connecting pin's may have been bent during the process. For all anyone know's it may have started out in slot three, better to research documentation. Though personally I suspect an IRQ sharing conflict, not understanding the intricacies of such matter's leaves me to pure speculation.

Very good technical guides and information on the subject may be gleaned from Ars Technica.

    Sir,
I am Sarabjit Singh. I am using Hp Pavilion Pc. Whenever I try to fix LanCard at pci slot it gives following error.

"Error: resource conflict - PCI in slot 01
    bus:01, device:08, function:00"

When i try to plug it in at the second slot then it gives following error message

"Error: resource conflict - PCI in slot 02
    bus:00, device:00, function:00

Same is with the slot 3.

I dont know what to do. Can Anybody help me to reslove this problem. I will be very thankful.

Plz email me at scorpiosurd [at] yahoo.com, sarabjit.bhatia [at] gmail.com
