I installed EIS and my laptop has gradually gotten slower over the last 24 hours. Tonight I could not open the EIS GUI and had to do a hard restart. After rebooting, my W7 laptop was very slow and the EIS GUI still would not open so I uninstalled in safe mode. I am also running AppGuard and wonder if there is an incompatibility with AppGuard and EIS?

    Hello puff-m-d,

Thanks for the link , anyway I heard about some conflicts between the old OA and Sandboxie , maybe I will wait a little more to see if there is any current issues between Sandboixe and EIS 9 ,

    No conflicts here either!

I wish Emsisoft would incoporate something similar to AppGuard into their EIS product... policy restriction would virtually nullify dangers of potential vulnerabilities.

System wide policy restrictions for processes block all potential malicious actions no matter what... however, the behavior blocker of Emsisoft is yet to be compromised regarding banking malware... MRG's tests truly has shown the strenght of their behavior blocker!

Imagine the behavior blocker and a similar AppGuard module working together. :thumb:

Anyhow, I'm testing EIS 9 to the limit right now... only one glitch; my internal network connection was lost (never happened before EIS 9 which I installed yesterday). I had to reboot to get it back. I'll report back if it happens again!

Also, I think EIS 9 is a lot smoother on the system compared to version 8. The overhead must've been reduced quite a lot.

    P.S. Great job Emsisoft!

Did you set exclusions in both programs...I am hoping that's my issue.

A known issue since older builds? It seems rather critical so I wonder why it hasn't been fixed.

Where are the settings for on-access scanning, e.g., Prompt for Action? I have only found the settings for an on-demand scan.

edit: after the completion of a full scan, the GUI is now frozen.

I wonder if they will continue to release weekly beta builds.

A lot of our testers run AppGuard, so I doubt it is caused by it. I know there are some performance issues with EIS/EAM 9.0 and MBAM 2.0. So if you happen to run the later, this could be the cause. In any case, I would need a few more information to know exactly what is going wrong on your laptop. A memory dump of the system would be perfect, as it shows what is going on in your system at the moment the GUI doesn't open. Can I send you a few instructions on how to get such a dump for me? :)

Even if there were conflicts between OA and Sandboxie, it wouldn't matter as EIS doesn't use any OA code. We have a lot of private testers running Sandboxie who have been testing EIS since November last year and no incompatibilities have been found so far.

A memory dump of the service process at the moment it happens would be helpful. If you want I can send you some instructions via PM on how to create one :).

It has, but it isn't where we want it to be yet. There are still some performance bottle necks with P2P software and applications who create a lot of connections. We also want to reduce the time it takes to perform a Smart Scan before we release 9.0 by making the Smart Scan, well, smarter and reduce the amount of files it scans.

Actually it's not an older issue. We had similar issues in the past, but those issues have been fixed. guest must have mistaken one of those older issues with the one you are experiencing.

As of 15 minutes ago running EIS, MBAM, MBAE, AppGuard, no conflicts, slowdowns or performance issues. If anything comes up will let you know.
