    Coming Soon - UltimateDefrag 4

The World's Most Powerful Hard Drive Defragmentation Software Just Got Even More Powerful
We're currently on the home stretch in the development of Version 4 of UltimateDefrag and we expect to have a release candidate ready by 1 April.
We've incorporated some slick new features that, not only make it easier to use, but provide you with more never before seen features in a hard drive defragmentation software product.
To ensure that you continue to work with a user interface you have grown used to, we haven't made any changes to the user interface. It looks just like the previous version but with a whole host of new features, power and flexibility.

Let's take a look at some of those new features....

Choose And Accelerate Specific Applications By Program Name

While you can still select programs you wish to accelerate by folder and filename, UltimateDefrag 4 now recognizes all programs and applications you have installed on your PC. You can now select which ones you want to accelerate by simply placing a checkmark next to them. Business applications, games, utilities - you name it. Just select them with your mouse and when you run your next defrag, UltimateDefrag 4 will move the application to the fastest performing regions of you hard drive. The result - accelerated loading of the application and it's associated files. The performance increase can really be felt in games and simulations where the hard drive is constantly reading data files from the hard drive during gameplay.

    Novice Mode and Expert Mode.

A lot of the feedback we have received is that UltimateDefrag can be overwhelming for the novice computer user who just wants an optimally performing hard drive without the brain strain. Now, with one mouse click you can choose the mode that suits you.

In Novice Mode you only need to press start (or schedule it, of course) and UltimateDefrag will, automatically and intelligently, defrag and optimize your hard drive using the “ideal” file placement algorithm for your hard drive based upon your own personal file usage patterns. You can then go about using your PC knowing that it is performing as fast as it possibly can be as a result of UltimateDefrag optimally placing your files. That performance increase will average 400% that of average hard drive performance.

Of course, if you like to control and customize your own file placement, simply select Expert Mode, for all the features and options of UltimateDefrag to be available to you to customize your own defragmentation and file placement routines.

More File Selection Methods For High Performance Files

For power users, now there are even more ways to automatically select your most frequently used files. Now you can use percentages or absolute numbers based upon count or amount of data.

You'll find these to be very powerful ways to customize the performance you want to achieve.

    Enhanced Defrag Simulation Output

Users love UltimateDefrag’s simulation mode. In V4, when your simulation is completed, UltimateDefrag will output an estimate of the performance increase you can expect to achieve from your file layout. So you can experiment to your heart’s content for the file placement routine that gives you optimal performance.

The above features are all we are going to elaborate upon for now. Some of the other new features include:

Further enhanced the fragprotect feature to further slow refragmentation rate

Better statistical analysis of your personal file usage patterns

Tools to manipulate your file usage database to reduce memory use

    More file placement options

    Logging and usage statistics

And lots of other under-the-hood improvements, bug fixes and refinements

We’ll further elaborate on some of these features on our website over the coming weeks.

As usual there will be a reduced price upgrade for all current license owners of previous versions.

Today’s hard drives are getting bigger and fuller and as they do get fuller, performance degrades faster, even on the fastest PCs. UltimateDefrag is still the only product that will keep your hard drives, no matter how big or full, performing 4 to 5 times faster than average. The end result for you is a faster Windows PC and ALL the applications you run on it.

Stay tuned for more information on UltimateDefrag V4 coming to your PC in 2nd Quarter 2012.

I assume many others like myself for one are really looking forward to this release to see just what next new imaginations Disk Trix is transformed into reality again this time.

I think most will agree that the Disk metaphor display was only one of many of the most innovative creations ever put to any single defrager in this manner, and combined with it's "Live" drag & drop placement feature amid many other useful features, really has helped to breakdown for users very important details in a way that now allows to draw the absolute most from this important hardware item in our PC's.

Testing different scenarios on hard disks for optimum performance has become better/safer IMO since Ultimate Defrag arrived with they're flagship defragger.

I for one no longer am consigned like others to blindly defragging not really expecting very much from it, or experience any real downsides to tricking the surface platters of digital data anymore. I wonder also if they will think to develop some form of a safe deleted files wiper to compliment the difference UD produces to improve disk performance.

I found that free-space clearing, wiping file slacks, etc. in advance of an efficient solid defrag yields spectacular results in increased performance gains.

If you could clarify some stuff that would be great:

1-- I understand clearing free space.. Generally this is done for security reasons. I don't see how it affects the results (or activities) of a defrag program. At the hardware/platter level, any data, including lengthy strings of zeros or ones is always overwritten when new valid & important data is saved. The hardware does no more work (nor less work) than if the data was random. This is a placebo effect. Once a set of sectors/tracks/clusters/whatever is deemed "empty" by the O/S, its fair game for writing new data there. The write speed is the same irregardless if free space is cleared.

The only activities involving free space manipulation that could improve disk performance are consolidation operations. Making the existing free-space contiguous. All in large chunks. Or making more of it.

Are you referring to "free space clearing" as actually making more room by deleting temp files and things of that nature by using something like CCleaner?

2-- Exactly how do you wipe file slacks? What is happening here? Why are you doing that? Please clarify how this is done.

By your posting of "...etc." implies there are other operations you do. Can you share those with us? I'm always looking to maintain the fastest disk in town. And I'm open to all ticks and ops that would make it even faster!

I'll gladly offer up all the necessary details for you in respect to disk clearing sciences regarding Windows platform & Hard Drive and comparisons proofs how such routines make for much improved & better performance in addition to specialized defrags, but please for another Topic so as not to wander off-topic from this one.
