I posted something and then found the info myself and wanted to delete the post. I clicked edit/delete, but I can't figure out how to delete the post. Are posts deletable? If so, how?

In edit mode, click the "go advanced" button at bottom of open window.

AT the top of the next screen, you will have an option to delete posting or to add a reason for your edit--if you were making a change to your posting.

If your are the originator of the post, any responses will also be deleted.

I had tried that, but there was no option to delete the post; all I saw was the reason for editing it and the title. Is it possible that the delete option has been removed?

When I HOVER over the "edit" button lower-right in any of my posts, the balloon says "Edit/Delete Message". If I CLICK-ON that button, I get a window where I can edit the text of the message, and four buttons below: Save, Go Advanced, Delete, and Cancel.

Do you see this with your posts?

I do now! Thank you! I'd swear I looked there and didn't see it before.

Perhaps you need to have a certain number of posts before you can use the Delete option.

Actually, there are a couple limits on deletions which may explain the difference in what you're seeing.

Members can delete their posts provided: 1. they do so within the edit/delete time window of 5 days; and 2. the post is a "reply" in a thread, not the first post of a thread.

Basically, members can delete posts not threads. Deleting the first post in a thread would, as Grover mentioned, delete all the replies, even those by other members. Since members are not allowed to delete other members posts, they can not delete the first post in a thread. (That limit applies even if the thread has not had any replies yet. The software doesn't check for replies, just whether the post in question is the first post of a thread or not.)

Grover covered this, but an aternative is to reply to your own post with a reference to where you found the answer. Sometime others have the same problem, and you might just save someone having to hunt the way you did. Or, you may just educate others who would appreciate it.

Thank you, everyone! Now I understand why I couldn't find "delete" for my first post but could for a reply.
