deleation troubles

    hi all

    im just wonderin if anyone knows how i can deleat files that give you this message

    cannot deleat access denied

    make sure that the disk is not fully write protected and that the file is not currentley in use

    coz i have several of these files in my recycle bin but i cant get rid of them

    help

    Hi Bethrezen,

    I suspect your recycle bin has been corrupted.
    Best way should be to start up in DOS (if necessary use a bootfloppy) and type the following commands after the prompt, each one followed by ENTER

    attrib -r -s -h c:\recycled
    deltree c:\recycled

    Then restart your computer and a brandnew recycle bin will be created.

    hi

    thanks for the tip worked great will that work with other files that have been locked

    say for instance if i want to clear the index.dat file

    This should work with all files, but they are sometimes locked for a very good reason. For example because your computer won´t work properly without them.
    Check out the info on index.dat here ;)
