I bought the three software package - after I started getting some e-mails in my own name and some sites sent me an e-mail saying that my password is stolen and they asked me to change it to something they sent me. So now I have TDS, Wormguard and also the port explorer now.. but have no clue what to do with port explorer. What should I look for? All I do is look for entries maked in red..check Who is. If the name looked okay, I felt may be things are okay.. Can you pls let me know what I should look for to even have a suspision that something is going wrong? Eg: What is meant by "You see a lot of activity"? (This qiestion is for two purposes..first to let you all know at what "knowledge level" I am at, and secondly ..yes..how do I know that? I saw a red entry - it siad the process is ccapp.exe. So I searched on the net and some pages said that this belongs to Norton. So seems okay. Is this the way to do? In my XP net work properties - I have Internet connection firewall checked and internet connection sharing unchecked. Am I not safe with this? Can someone exlpain to me some simple things I can do to make sure I use this product to keep my files safe? - May be a three or four step process will really help.. All I can think of was- "when you see a red line, post that on this forum..probably that will be the best place to start for me" - but I think with a little help from you guys and some basic knowledge, I dont mind using my brains a little more. Also another important question: Since they stole my password for some sites, (unfortunately it was the same password on all of them) should I change other passords (different ones than the one compromised) as well or is itokay to assume that since I didnt hear any complaints form those sites, things are okay? Hi adamx, Sorry to hear about your bad experience, but, you've got some good tools now to help protect your system and to do some research on just what's happening on it. Other people will be along with specific advice on Port Explorer and how to do different things in it. I just wanted to let you know that someone has seen your message and that assistance will be coming. Also, to answer your password question, yes, I would change all of them that even remotely could have been accessed. Some places don't send out warnings and others may not yet have been accessed. So, getting in there and changing them is a good idea. Finally, for any Port Explorer questions you have regarding what an entry means or how to research it further, just hit the Reply button on any post in this thread here, and added it. Port Explorer shows you many things, what applications have active sockets (active connections on your network), how much data they have sent/received, etc. It also allows you to spy on certain applications or sockets to see what data is being sent out or received in. Aswell as that it also shows you what country the sockets on your system are connected to.
