Hi Page, a few days ago when I read your post I am quoting, I saved it, to check later, sometime in the future when using my W7, the tasks, how the Customer Experience Program was set in my W7, and follow the instructions you wrote. Today was the day. The program was set to No, but the 5 tasks were scheduled.

Thanks to you and the instructions you posted, my Task Scheduler looks a lot prettier now :).

Glad to learn the instructions provided were of use to you, Bo. My settings haven't changed since 8 days ago when I disabled these tasks. I check back on settings sometimes after making changes because there have been times the settings reverted... particularly in Services.

Anyway, there is another task that should be disabled as well, that I also shut down back then, Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser. (I'll paste an image below.) Once you locate MCA, right click the task, select Properties, then choose the Settings tab. Eye-opening stuff, like "Stop the task if it runs longer than 4 days". You'll quickly see why disabling MCA is a good plan.

My machine went fishing for updates and hooked a KB4505903. Anyone else? The update didn't progress nearly as smoothly as the prev. but went OK and my winver for v.1903 is now 18362.267. Windows Update Cleanup is also showing in the Disk Cleanup list but when I hit "cancel" and restarted, it stuck at the "Getting Windows Ready" screen so I did a hard shutdown. When it booted again, Disk Cleanup must've cleaned those files because the disk space was regained in C drive. :) Also had to roll back the latest NVIDIA driver v.431.60 as Night Light was acting up again. There's a hotfix coming up but I dunno whether it'll address NL. The v. 431.36 driver is really good, so sticking w/that for now.

If anyone cares, here is the changelog for the latest Windows cumulative update.

Thanks for all that. Two things:
    1. to do all the disabling I had to do it in the admin account. No big deal, but I just mention it.
    2. Regarding point 8 - I had CEIP disabled from day 1 on Windows 7 pro. But those tasks were scheduling and running. (No, actually AITAgent was already disabled, I don't recall doing it).
Even though they were running and successfully completed, the MS blurb describing them says that if CEIP is disabled these tasks do nothing, which I interpreted that the snooping job starts, checks CEIP, finds it off, and exits. Right? Wrong?

    You're welcome.
Sounds reasonable but I have no way of knowing.

To be honest, I can't remember ever reading the release notes and seeing any fixes my machines required from Win7 on.

I've installed Windows 8.1 and Office 2013 updates and didn't encounter any problems so far.

I could not get KB4512508 on v.1903 installed to save my life. Not even the Update Catalog would do it. Sfc, dism and windows update troubleshooter "couldn't find the problem." I did a repair-install of Windows and the update did go thru. I'm guessing my removal of Edge.old a couple of days ago was the factor. So, what...I gotta keep Edge.old installed now in order to keep up to date? :cautious: Anyone can confirm?

Hi Plat1098, the only thing I can tell you regarding this update and Edge is that the update was very smooth. Probably, one of the more smooth updates I had in W10 to this day. Regarding Edge, I don't use Edge but getting rid of it has never crossed my mind. The only thing I do with it is, after updating Windows, I open it once (my home page in Edge is set to Wilders :)), and open a few pages without moving away from Wilders. I do this to apply whatever update is there for Edge. After about 30 seconds, I close Edge and don't open it again until next time I update Windows. :D

Has something changed in the way updates are delivered? I was just about to check for updates manually but when I opened the settings it was already looking for updates. When today's updates were found they weren't automatically downloaded. They were waiting for me to click Download.

Yes, same on two of my machines but strangely the third downloaded and installed the updates automatically.

Windows 10 x64 1809, Updated to (KB4511553) & (KB4486153) today via catalog. Suddenly all audio has random slight pops or hiccups. Mediaplayer, Youtube Videos, games, you name it. Could be related to my rather old pci sound card and drivers from creative that only ever got the one release for Win10 but the timing says something at least. Guess I'll have to investigate more if others don't report similar issues. I'm not an audiophile but it is ruining the music and my mood so I may end up trying to revert to the onboard sound and see if it persists.

My main test machine, KB4512508 was already installed overnight waiting for restart.

On my newly installed v1903 machine, I manually checked for updates.
(It may be there is something up with that machine, in that it is set to never sleep, but it appears it may be doing just that, as my scheduled overnight Macrium backup isn't running either).

Edit: Found the solution to the latter Macrium issue btw. Under 'Conditions', didn't set task to wake from sleep (strange, as machine is set to never sleep).
