Better detection rate: NAV2006 or NOD32? I know NAV has better overall detection rate than NOD32 (av-comparatives), but NOD32 has far better heuristics. Also Andreas Clementi says: " Please do not put to much attention to the precentages, as little differences in the percentages do not say much".

Which one is better for a high risk home user?
Also I use ZA PRO 6 and a²Guard.

Depends what else you do on the computer. My buddy who plays a lot of games says they run better with NOD than Norton, other people may have different results.

It really comes down to the one that actually runs the best on your comp. In my case NIS 2005 runs better than nod but that will not be the results with everyone. You should trial them both and see which one you and your computer like the most.

IMO NAV is better in signature based detection but its heuristics let it down, which is why NOD32 comes up better in "overall" detection (when you consider detection of newer threats as well as signature based detection).

But I haven't had people telling me bad things about either AV.....

When parasitic file infectors will strike again you may consider using NAV again :)
Until then i'd recommend NOD32, especially if you're using POP3 email that doesn't have any scanner server side...

NOD is always faster and lighter IF you start out with a clean install of WXP. The more garbage you have running in the background, the higher probability that an application will conflict with the AV. The key to speed and stability is to keep it light.

If you have more than about 20 open processes after a clean re-boot, then your system is probably overloaded with un-needed applications running in the background.
