I have Acronis True Image Home ver 11. I have a USB DVD RW drive attached to my desk top. Acronis does not see it. I also have a zip drive via USB and it does see it. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

If you want help, you should provide better details. For example:
Are the drives running and mounted before you launch ATI? Are you using the Windows application of ATI or the bootable rescue CD? Have you checked Device Manager to see if there are any errors with these drives? Do those drives have drivers that are current and compatible with your OS? What OS do you have?

The drive is mounted prior to ATI start. I am using the windows application of ATI. There are no conflicts with the DVD-RW. I am using windows XP Professional version.

When you boot to TI from the CD, does it see the USB DVD-RW drive and you ZIP drive okay?

I boot it from the hard drive. It sees the zip drive. It sees the memory stick if it is attached to the cpu but not the DVD writer.

    dalions,
Does the burner show when booted from the TI Rescue CD?
Since the Rescue CD is an absolute essential to a system recovery, it is important to know what works when booted from the CD.

In addition, if the USB DVD-RW drive does show up properly using TI Full from the CD, the problem may be with the Windows TI drivers.

I can't even make a rescue CD. It sees the drive, but gives me the not accesseble or not enough permissions error. I going to do a reinstall.

Hate to ask the obvious but is are the drives in question operating properly with other programs besides ATI? Also, do you have and CD/DVD drive software installed (InCd, etc.).

If ATI cannot see your drive while running udner windows, it sounds like a win driver prob -- maybe you could try reinstalling the driver(s) for these drives?

I got it working. For some reason Acronis would not create a recovery CD using my DVD-RW (USB). I created an ISO file and saved it to my hard drive. Then using NERO created a bootable CD using the ISO file. I booted to the CD and Acornis now sees the DVD-RW and allows the back-up. PFM.

    Thanks for all the help.
