Apple today announced Apple One, a new way to get all of Apple’s subscription services in one simple plan, including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and iCloud. Apple One will be available in the following three tiers:

Individual includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage for $14.95 per month.

Family includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 200GB of iCloud storage for $19.95 per month, and can be shared among up to six family members.

Premier, where available, includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and 2TB of iCloud storage for $29.95 per month, and can be shared among up to six family members.

Apple One also comes with a 30-day free trial for any services that customers do not already have.

Apple just announced Fitness+ as a new service that will help users exercise. It includes weekly videos with various workouts, including cycling, treadmill, rowing, HIIT, strength, yoga, dance, core, and mindful cooldown, led by professional trainers.
This service is $10 per month but is included in the $30 Apple One Premier bundle.

Current subscribers of all services offered in any of the Apple One packages will automatically be enrolled in the appropriate tier at the discounted rate. Others who have one or more subscriptions will be directed to a tier that they may find beneficial to their needs.

Less than an hour after the end of Apple’s big Watch event today, Spotify sent out a statement reiterating its distrust and disappointment in Apple, again accusing the company of anticompetitive practices. Here’s the full message from Spotify:

"Once again, Apple is using its dominant position and unfair practices to disadvantage competitors and deprive consumers by favoring its own services. We call on competition authorities to act urgently to restrict Apple's anti-competitive behavior, which if left unchecked, will cause irreparable harm to the developer community and threaten our collective freedoms to listen, learn, create, and connect."

Spotify didn’t specify which aspect of Apple’s event prompted this response, though one bit of news stands out as a likely candidate. The Apple One bundle announced today sells Apple Arcade, TV+, iCloud access and — most notably — Music for $15 per month. This is a potential threat to Spotify, which also operates a music app on iOS.

For more than a year, Spotify has been making noise about Apple’s unchecked power over the App Store, and in March 2019, it filed a complaint against Apple with the European Commission.

Just hours after the reveal of Apple’s new services bundles, the tech giant has already taken criticism for evidently favoring its own apps over those with which it directly competes in its App Store.

Apple’s long-rumored push into services bundles comes as little surprise for a number of reasons. One is that some of Apple’s services have been more successful than others—ahem, Apple TV+—and bundles allow Apple to lure some paying customers who might otherwise overlook an Apple service on its own.
Another reason is that ensnaring users who are using an Apple app out of convenience rather than because it’s the best app in its category obviously benefits Apple.

Meanwhile, Peloton CEO John Foley let on during an investors’ meeting on Tuesday that the company was “digesting the announcement.” While he spoke highly of Apple’s commitment to the fitness category, he also appeared to insinuate that without dedicated workout hardware, Peloton still had a leg up on Fitness+.

“And we think the special sauce, the magic, is our connected platforms and in order to work out at home you need a stationary bike if you’re going to be biking, you need a treadmill if you’re going to be running.”
Setting aside for a moment the fact that nobody actually needs a treadmill to run or even equipment to exercise, Peloton seems to be missing the fact that it will be competing against Fitness+ for subscribers.

Particularly if Fitness+ is as good as many of us likely anticipate it will be, there’s no reason to believe a would-be Peloton customer wouldn’t forego the company’s pricey equipment to instead focus on an app they’re already paying for through Apple One.

Shares of Spotify Technology SA fell as much as 7% on Wednesday, after Apple Inc announced a bundled plan for all its services that lowered the cost of Apple Music subscriptions.

The Swedish company, whose 138 million paying subscribers dwarf Apple Music and Amazon Music, lashed out at the iPhone maker’s move that was announced on Tuesday.
Spotify said the Apple One bundle disadvantages streaming music rivals by favoring its own Apple Music service.

Spotify and Apple charge $10 a month for their streaming music service, but the Apple One package, which starts at $15 per month, bundles it with other services such as television or video games.

A new report says Apple One customers who already have subscriptions to some duplicate services will get a pro-rated refund.
According to iPhone in Canada:

Now, we can confirm Apple will indeed provide a pro-rated refund on services you've already subscribed to for one year.
iPhone in Canada reader Anthony was told by Apple support he would receive a pro-rated refund on his annual Apple Arcade purchase. We were able to confirm the pro-rated refund ourselves with Apple.
This means, for instance, that if you've already paid for a full year of a service like Apple Arcade or Apple Music, that when you sign up for Apple One, you'll get the remainder of your subscription refunded. Any duplicate Apple service subscriptions will be ended once your Apple One free trial finishes, after which you'll get your money back.

Today marks one month since the launch of Apple One, which allows customers to subscribe to multiple Apple services in a single bundle, and it appears there are some billing-related issues as the free trial period begins to elapse.

All in all, there are clearly some hiccups going on as Apple One converts from a trial to a standard subscription, so hopefully Apple is able to sort out the issues soon.

Apple One allows customers to save money by bundling services together with one unified bill. At the low end, the Individual tier offers savings of $6 per month, while the Family plan offers a savings of over $8 per month, and the Premier plan offers a savings of over $25 per month, compared to standard monthly pricing.

Curently, the Premier tier is limited to the United States, Australia, Canada, and the UK, as these are the only countries where Apple News+ is available. Premier will also include access to Apple's new workout service Fitness+, which launches later this year.

The 30-second video gives a rundown of each service included in Apple One. For instance, it highlights that Apple Arcade offers you over 200 ad-free games, Apple TV+ has some of the world’s biggest stars, and Apple Fitness+ gives you workouts across every category.
