Any False Positives w/ Eset NOD32 v7?

I still uses Eset NOD32 v6 coz worried that v7 are "very sensitive" that it might flags many false positives.

How bout yours?

Zero False Positives

I've seen a few users say they have an FP when fact is they have enabled the detection of Potentially Unwanted Applications wich obviously are no FP detections.

 

Eset is historically among the lowest where Fp's are concerned.

 

In this year's AV-Comparatives Real-World reports, Eset had 0 FP's.

March to June 2013:

I changed about 6 months ago to Ver 7 and found it as effective and quiet as before.

 

Same as the others that posted, no false positives. Zero.

Using Eset NOD32 v7, no FPs in the short time I've been running it (bought it in the sale).

 

VERY rare with eset. the only time i have one (again rare) is mostly with the web filter. otherwise no.

 

Sometimes it flags installers for installing crapware (which I'm glad it does). People may consider this a bit aggressive but IMO that should be the correct behaviour of an antivirus.

 

Eset detection behaviour is same to Malwarebytes but Eset x2 better.
Some people might think they've false positive.
It's obviously, because ESET can detect Opencandy, InstallMonetizer
InstallIQ, InstallCore, Spigots, Somoto Adwares.
Some antivirus that have high score than Eset cannot even
scan any signle of these Adwares. If you know what I mean.

If you've one of these is your pc Eset will absolutely sweep them
into quarantine box for sure. Most those program
in that list are familiar ones that you might use them daily.

Whether which type of Eset products they use the same virus database.
What's only difference in each version are other security features.
But virus detect are no differences. So no need to fear updgrade 6 to 7

They use the same definitions so if you dont have FP's with v6, you shouldnt have any with v7.

Is there particular class of software you are concerned about?

One thing to keep in mind is that ESET does detect quite a few software cracks, keygens, potentially unsafe applications, potentially unwanted applications and other types of programs that tend to fall into the "grey area" of things. They may not be classic malicious software like viruses, worms and trojans, but the kinds of things that ESET's customers want to be protected from in addition to those types of threats.

I'm glad NOD32 recently started to detect the thing in the latest AIDA version, about which I posted here.

The thing about downloading Junkware Removal tool from hxxp://www.giga.de as mentioned here I still don't understand. NOD32 gives a warning at that site.

I have been told by ESET that the reason is a download-wrapper. At the other hand thisisu
said in that thread that there is no download-wrapper.
It could well be that I am misunderstanding things.

 

Eset can detect a lots of PUPs that's why some people might think it's false positives.
But in that fact they're detect these Adware bundle such as:
Opencandy, Conduit, Spigot, InstallMoneztizer, InstallIQ, Install Core, Somoto
Or i should say it's detect behaviour a mostly the type like Malwarebytes.
If anyone download software that contain these PUP it will be
high chance that Eset will detect. Some other popular AV cannot
even detect these Bundle like ESet, Malwarebytes. If you know what I mean.

I've done a sample scan Eset with malwarebytes from 296 suspicious files
from my collection eset got 78/296.
While Malwarebytes got 34/296

 

No false positive from NOD32 for me either.
But as others said it does detect unwanted applications if you have that option enabled. It will notify you of adware that is part of other (usually freeware) software. Though mostly you can opt out those unwanted apps during installation.

 

@PUPs: I love the fact that it takes every kind of malware seriously, because some PUPs can be just as dangerous as any. Not long ago, I couldn't shut down my computer (the shutdown/sleep/restart buttons wouldn't work) and my AV (which is otherwise great, but wouldn't have found anything in this case anyway due to being a BD clone) got disabled only because my sis had put iLivid on it without asking me, but MBAM saved the day. I can only imagine what would have happened if I kept it there for any longer. By the way, Kaspersky is another that's decent at detecting them.

 

Now is more difficult to find FP´s in ESET software
