No false positives here on adobe, but another issue: ESS starts loading a PDF, then skyrockets off and slowly comes to a crawl and stops responding completely. ESS IE setting is not in active mode. Uninstalled adobe7, reinstalled version8. When using the taskmanager to end the adobe reader task executable the system is workable again.

good choice and for those who paid for Acrobat (not Reader)?;)...hmm...I'll rather change AV than Acrobat (If I must...because I need Acrobat for prepress)
this is not way how to do things...just my two cents as consumer (not as developer or reseller)

A problem opening pdf files in a browser should only occur with the browser set to higher efficiency (active) mode. It turned out to be by design of Acrobat Reader which simply does not like that the whole file is downloaded at once by another application.

Acrobat Reader must be the most bloated software I know.
