    1) I just renewed my AV. My license expires on May 5th so why did I receive this message,

You are hereby granted an End User License to use NOD32 on: 1
    computer(s) until 25 April 2008

So in other words if you renew early you'll lose the rest of the time you have on your current license?

    2) I was wondering, how does Eset know the difference between the people who renew their license and the first time buyers?
The renewal is cheaper than the regular price but it seems to me anyone can go through the renewal process and get a license for NOD32, correct?

Yes, the renewed license starts from the day you renew it.

If I could remember, I was required to provide my current username and password during the renewal process. But I am not sure if it applies to other NOD renewal sites.

I never had to submit any information that says I was a current user of NOD32.
I know that your username and password changes for each renewal but I thought it was odd that I could just renew NOD32 by filling out the requested information from the renewal section.
If thats the case than anyone including a first time buyer can get NOD32 at the renewal price.
What it basically came down to was my name, e mail address, and credit card information and a few minutes later I received an email with my new user name and password.
I'm not sure if they keep track of any previous information like your name, address, e mail address but all of that can change with in a years time.

Yes, I have the same question before. I have once tried to see how the renewing process would look like, but I remember that I was required to provide my previous username and password before I was allowed to order. I don't remember which NOD32 site I have tried.

Finally, I did not renew online because buying a new package for a 3 year license in Hong Kong is cheaper than renewing online. :D

    Answering CJsDad:

    1) Yep that is a well-known glitch but it is easily sorted out. Send an email to support @ eset dot com with your details and explaining the situation.

    2) Yep on some sites they verify your username and password, but like you I too was able to renew last year without providing those details. Weird!
