I don't see a link to register. There is a download link, but not one that I can interpret as registering.

I see the link open up to register for 6 months free, then it re- directs me to another page. Do you have to be registered at PC Advisor to get this??

    Thanks?

It was a thread, and not a formal announcement from the KL forum as such.

I place one's ethics in very high esteem. Someone or something can take anything I have, except my ethics. I have to give that up, and do not intend to do so for any reason.

But as to the question, I assume that if it is limited to a certain group or subscribers it will either state it or not permit the loading and installing with a key. If they furnish a key when an honest email address and information has been provided, then it is my view that they should notify that it cannot be provided outside the group or subscribers. If they do not I assume that it is in fact ethical/honest to use it.

I have done that with a couple of PS Welt AVs.
I suspect it is an attempt on the part of the developers/company to get people to use the application, and hopefully the users will like it enough to buy it in time. It has worked in my case, and I have found a couple of applications I really like, such as AntiVir Premium. It runs well and I might buy it if KIS gives me problems that I cannot correct.

    Regards,
    Jerry

No, it runs a region check on your computer when you access the site and re-directs you if it finds out that you are not from the intended target audience. You can use a proxy or maybe temporarily change your regional settings to fool your browser and the site to think that you are from the UK...:doubt:

    Hi Sjoeii,
Yes and I do. I think you have the best program specific forum out there. It is funny in a way. I read of not very good support from KL Technical Support, but the KL forum is outstanding.
Conversely, F-Secure has excellent Tech Support, but their forum rates somewhere between 0 and minus 10 in my view.o_O

Anyway, KIS 7 is running well on both of my computers, and you folks helped with my firewall "running me crazy" problem a couple of days ago. I don't anticipate having to change KIS 7. I would be bugging you long before I removed KIS.:D
    Many thanks.

    Regards,
    Jerry

    Hello Aigle,

I think that your concern is justified and it had crossed my mind also. I certainly had no intention of acting unethically. When I originally pointed in this forum to this offer one week ago I mentioned it only in relation to the magazine's cover disc.

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=181482

Yet, having bought the magazine myself, I noticed that the Kaspersky promotion was one of the few promotional programs on the cover disc which were not dependent on a licence key displayed in the magazine itself. This had initially confused me as I kept looking on the cover disc and all relevant pages of the magazine for the necessary promotional code or key. Having followed the instructions in the magazine, it became clear that the licence key in this particular case was delivered in exchange for registering with PC Advisor, thus serving the magazine and Kaspersky to extend its potential customer base. Laudably, the magazine had comprehensive opt out clauses regarding further marketing not related to this particular promotion.

Indeed, someone could have found this promotion merely by visiting PC Advisor's website and having a look around. As some Wilders' members were eagerly awaiting keys via Kaspersky's direct promotion, I thought it may prove helpful to point them in the right direction to save them some time. :D

    Best wishes

Thank you for your reply Bluenile. Very strange indeed.

Edit: I was able to get to the PCAdvisor site and register there. I'm in the U.S. so I'm not sure how that happened. I'm using FF with NoScript and turned scripts on for the site after I used the original posted link. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. So, which version should I download or do I have to download KIS6 and then upgrade to KIS7? Thanks
