I have an old Dell 8200 that I let my grand children use. It was doing fine. It had a pop up that said that the battery was low. So a couple of days later I replaced the battery on the motherboard. Now I get nothing . After about a minute I get two beeps. Help please.

    pull the battery
hold the power button for 5 seconds
    put battery back in
    turn the computer on

by battery on motherboard you mean the CMOS?

I finally got it going but when it boots it still says the battery is low. It is a new battery.

Could be true even if new, but make sure the contacts are clean first.

Also make sure it is hooked up right (you might need to turn the battery over [ I had this problem and worried if any damage resulted so I went to Best Buy and asked the technician and he said that no , no damage is done if installed upside down]). I have had no problems at all from reversing the battery by mistake.

Take notes on polarity and do not rely on memory.

I did some research and found that the low voltage warning is a common problem with these old Dells. I think I have it fixed now. I had to go into the BIOS and clear the system event log. Then reboot a couple of times.
