Windows Vista Product Editions [New Poll Option] --Please Recast your Vote--

To my big surprise I saw that Win Vista Basic costs only 130 Euro (about $170) IMO a reasonable price so I think I might buy it in 2008, hopefully it will then be matured. And I don´t need the Premium edition, I don´t need Windows Aero, Media Center and the Premium Games.

But isn´t it kind of strange that Win XP Home is a lot more expensive? I don´t get it. In Holland it costs about 260 Euro ($335), but I saw it costs only 190 bucks in the USA. I´m glad that M$ decided to stop ripping people of, over here at least. Here is a nice comparison btw:

I voted none, i'll stick with linux, or maybe in the distant future a Mac.

WOW , come in Bulgaria and buy it from me Here Windows XP Home ed. costs 120 $ (VAT included) . Well , it will get expensive from tomorrow when Vista is released but much cheaper than in Holland , which surprises me

I voted none. xp home and pro are going to be supported through 2014. I've already had one buggy os (windows ME). I have no intention of ever installing vista. I've got 2 computers now. One is dual booting Windows me (only used for playing games) and xubuntu linux.

I just got a new dell computer for my birthday that has xp media edition installed. It will soon be dual booting a linux distro. Probably "pclinuxos" I will probably eventually go 100% linux on both pc's. However, I like a few games that microsoft has. So, I'll keep both computers dual booting for now.

 

As of now I am still using the windows xp pro, and still trying to figure it out if its really worth installing the vista. if I found out that this is really good then I will get the very best edition even if its very expensive.

 

Simple, ULTIMATE. Everything, from Security to just plain convient features. Enough for me, even for the price. If I'm going to get Windows Vista at all, give me Ultimate edition and never look elsewhere.

Actually the situation is still the same over here in Holland, it´s the upgrade that costs only 130 euro, but you will loose your XP license.

So Vista full versions are still priced insanely high, the Ultimate version costs 625 euro just like MS Office Pro. And they wonder why people are "bootlegging" their sh*t? M$ must be out of there mind. So I guess I will probably get Vista Premium on my new machine in about 2 or 3 years.

 

im running ultimate here. i dont see why all the neg response to it. personally my machine has never run this good with xp. uac is a pain but turn it off. other than that so far everything i have experimented with has run flawlessly. i am only using 1 gb on a p4 northy 3.2 oc'ed to 4.0 on water. and it is simply so much faster then xp ever ran. at work i have xp pro and will be using it for some time since that machine doesnt need an upgrade yet and im not spending the money for it. so fo those in that situation i can see why you would not run it..

I'm running Vista Ultimate, have done so since it was released, and no problems at all. Then again I do know how to use it properly,and I do have all the fastest hardware too

 

Ultimate because it's Multi Language.

 

Ultimate is working good for me.

 

NONE! I have engulfed myself into other options. Because of Vista I have switched to Linux entirely! As far as home use is concerned I don't want anything to do with Vista, Office, or most of the software made by Microsoft for that matter.
