This is just after he gets married too..and he's going to sell off everything he owns? Nah, as I said it's one of the three situations I mentioned. Lifetime licenses are stupid to begin with, so yes yearly pay is a smart move and really the best move, so long as the price doesn't get out of hand. AdGuard is a little on the slow side, but mostly for me it just let too much random stuff through.
This was the essence of my post ... while Murray announced AM becomes free he didn't stop complete purchasing system including the renewal mails.
I've noticed this too, AM free, appearance on his forum after many months of MIA. Maybe his wife put her foot up is butt and told him to get back to work for the income. You know the good old saying "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." Maybe marriage is what Murray needed to get him back into gear and put full time into AM. We'll see if version 5 comes out this year. Welcome to the married life.
I'm just going to wait for the release of Ad Mucher free, its a 1/3rd(ish) into July now, I believe he said it would be released as a free software this month...I suspect it will be a non-event just like V5.
I received the same email a few months back. But I responded directly to AM and essentially voiced my concerns about renewing my license for a dead product. That's when the response from AM was that if everyone chooses to not renew there will never be a version 5 because of no funds for development. Then I see AM is going freeware without explanation. After years of no development and AM still wanting subscription funds, it sounds like the next logical step is to suddenly announce a new release of a freeware product with no strings attached
I've used Ad Muncher for some time but didn't renew my subscription last year when the thing began to be useless unless you used outdated browsers & or sites that were not encrypted - Frankly I don't think there will be a version 5, & the plethora of info last month was just smoke & mirrors - What sort of a person feels guilty for charging for a product or service? I don't work for nothing & don't feel bad about it either - I might be wrong but as I'm happy now with AdBlock+ I really don't care what happens to AM, it's been months if not years of broken promises ...
Apparently, the version being released this month will be 4.94, with zero changes in functionality, just free.
Murray has gone into hiding once more, three weeks since his last blog response...I'm sure he said it would become 'freeware' in July..9 days to go? http://www.murrayhurps.com/blog/ad-muncher-announcement
I hope for his sake he's just been busy working on AM. Obviously I hope nothing is wrong with him or his family. But, if he has decided to bail or go back into hiding after all this he and his reputation is going to get ripped to shreds. It won't look good for Jeffrey either, but he seems to have backed away from here either for good or until he can provide more than just "Hold tight".
You got it right! See what Jeff has said. If there is still a fool who even after all the fuss about version 5 still believe that version 5 will be released soon, please read Jeff's post twice or how many times you need to understand that it's not gonna happen.
So, Murray lied/has given up then I assume. If they had the interest or ability to get out v5, they wouldn't be "working" on a version that is seeing no changes whatsoever, just that it's going free. By the way, how the hell do you "work" on something you have of intention of changing or fixing? None of this s*** about v5 or even the free version has made any sense whatsoever since it started. I bet Jeff feels rough too after taking as much crap as he did trying to defend the company and reassuring people that all was well. I'm guessing that the only people being positive about the whole thing now are the hardcore loyalists.
Not the former, perhaps the latter. When I discovered that this month's release would be another version 4, I went back and re-read Murray's comments. He doesn't actually say that this month will see a release of the much anticipated version 5, just a free version.
I could see it coming now. Ad Munchers next excuse will be: We can't release Version 5 because of the changes in the upcoming IE-12. It's not our fault that Microsoft changed things in IE. How could anyone believe any news coming from Ad Muncher about Version 5.
All that Murray has achieved is to discredit himself and Ad Muncher through his tissues of lies about ad muncher free and the development of V5...The best thing he can do now is bow out and make it open source.
Another unfulfilled promise. Phew, you cannot trust him at all. I wouldn't be surprised if that girl being presented on his blog as his wife would be an unknown girl (btw, my compliments) caught on the street to take a common (fake) family snapshot just because he likes to delude others. That dude perhaps seems to me ...
Btw where's Jeff? He went MIA from Wilders. I really feel sorry for the members that bought the AM Lifetime license. The amount they paid for the license, I can see why they are so mad.
Exactly. I regret the day when I bought a lifetime license but not because of Ad Muncher would be bad application (at least until it started to lag behind the competition) but that I contributed a creature who doesn't play fair.
One lifetime license? I have 3! Bought them a couple of years back... used 2 of them a lot but it didn't pay off well now that this scandal occurred with the licensing system.
My guess is he got chased off. He was here somewhat recently, even after taking a lot of heat from people, but unless he wants to be drowned in "What's Murray doing?" questions he's probably better off not here. It kinda sucks for him as he did do some good work with the lists. But, he's the public face that keeps in contact with users so he's going to be the one who takes all the stones thrown at the company. As for Murray, well, he was given a put up or shut up period. By my calender, he's failed again. I hope the man and his family are doing just fine, but there is zero faith left in him as a businessman.
The biggest mistake Murray made (again) was giving a time frame for release. They've been giving the "soon" spiel for years now, all with zero outcome for users.
Into the first week of August and Murray remains hidden as usual (bar that short appearance to post a sob story)...And Jeff soldiers on with no tangible info...I don't know what Jeffs' software engineering skills are but I think he should jump off the sinking ship SS Admuncher. http://forum.admuncher.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=29469&sid=8eaba5ea6d90857783a17eb254fa616f&start=45
i don't even use AM anymore. it is so outdated, it's almost useless these days now. AdBlock just works and it's free.
