which Linux scanner should i use?

    hi, do you know anything about Linux AVs? which do you recommend to install? i haven't tried AntiVir yet but i have tried Clam and Aegis are any of them good? i think i want AntiVir but, it would be great if someone could tell me the facts. thanks.

    I've used BitDefender and and F-prot. To be honest though, it depends what your perceived threats are. If you're wanting to scan shared SAMBA drives or mailboxes for Windows users then fair enough, but IMHO I don't see any real need in terms of detecting native linux threats. You'd be better off securing your system properly in the first place.

    i'm mainly worried about transferring things over to XP. i had already tried BD but it didn't install correctly but it was probably my fault installing it incorrectly. i'll reinstall BD i think, thanks.

    If you're just scanning Windows files for Windows viruses, then I'd definately recommend BitDefender. What distro are you running? I've used the RPM package on Fedora without issue, but I see they also have debian packages available.

    Either that, or you could just rely on your Windows AV to catch any dodgy files and don't bother with an AV on your linux box.
