Ah, VAX/VMS... When my company got its first VAX 8600 (to add to the farm of 11/780s), we thought we were in heaven!
WOW. Boy do you guys make me feel like a newby. But what the heck, I am a newby. My first computer experience was with Windows 95 in 1999. I was born in Texas. Moved around with the Air Force to Mississippi and Illinois and back to Texas. Stayed in Amarillo til 1969. Then stayed in San Antonio til 1982. Moved to New England where I lived in South Vermont then North New Hampshire. Since Oct 2002 I live in Indianapolis. I've found that I love the climate in Indiana.
I'm living in The Netherlands. In the oldest town, the town of the four days marches. Are there more bagpipers here?
I have been here over a year and haven't replied to this I am 5th generation of my family to live in this area, Pike Co., Mississippi. My great-great-great grandfather settled into this area around 1812. He came from Georgia but the trail went cold there. My great-great grandfather built a log house not too far from here back in 1856 and it is still being used. I was told that our surname was Irish which means "one who lives 'down the way' ". I started fooling with computers back in 1986 when I signed up for an NRI computer repair correspondence course. I had to put together a Sanyo MBC-550 at the end of the course. Since then I have had a couple of Tandy's (I was sad when they stopped making computers), a Compaq (never again) and a couple of Dells. I am an Automotive Component Procurer (PC name I made up for partsman ) at a local GM dealership. I help the SysAdmin from time to time though I am not too knowledgeable about networking. I mainly upgrade, replace components, install or update software, etc the workstations.
I am from the southern USA in North Carolina. Home of the number 1 University of North Carolina Tarheels.
As a new, and probably the newest member of the forum I'd like to tell you that I live in a small city in the northwest of Greece called Ioannina. It's famous for Ali Pasha, the only inhabited island in a lake in Europe and, as well as being a provincial capital, it has a university and university hospital. It's also very cold in the winter - and pretty hot in the summer! Happy New Year to all!
Hi,there Everyone I am new to this site and come from Japan. Are there anyone who have registered here from Japan? Anyway Happy New Year to YOU all. Albert1

From beautiful Lookout Mountain area of Tennessee. [Chattanooga] Sparkymachine, I remember punching out chads with a toothpick on Wang punch cards. I also remember taking a stack of machine punched cards to the University computer center and going back the next day or two for the results. Remember the now extinct occupation of "key punch operator"?
