    Poll is above, hope you all can tell me your opinions as I try to watch the most up to date news but need help finding the best one.

    I voted for "other" ... I like the news without the fluff and/or sensationalism, so CNN and Fox are a definite no go for me. ;) I prefer the CBC Canadian Broadcasting Corporation -or- the BBC. If I have to pick an American Broadcaster it'd be MSNBC.

    I voted the same as dog. Too much hype and restricted broadcasting...IMO.

    Watch many....try to make sense of it all!

    I heard when CNN first came to cable television, the big networks called them the Chicken News Network. Who's laughing now? :D
    For all their flaws, CNN seems to cover stories faster than anyone else.
    All of them have some great individual reporters on staff.

    In this day and age where a scoop means that you beat the other guys to the story by 5 or 10 seconds, fast usually means 'Get the story out now and we'll worry about the facts later'! One only has to look at the recent spate of disasters around the world. The first few were covered widely and money and supplies went pouring in. The last two....Pakistan and Guatemala/Mexico were hardly touched upon and aid is slow in coming. I guess it's old hat and everyone is bored w/that now. The big news item now is that Tom Cruise knocked up his girlfriend whatshername!

    I dunno if it's because I come from the UK, but I use the BBC News website. I wouldn't think of using those listed in the poll. Perhaps the results will be based on location?

    Hey ice;) ,

    Apart from that!! But in general it is still one of the best news organisations in the world along with Reuters. Because it is publicily funded is why it cant get away with stuff like that? From that list i would most likey go for CNN, not to bad.

    the best thing about the bbc is there's no ads, but they make everyone pay for a tv licence.

    I live in the US and I would rather get my news from BBC and PBS (and other sources) as others posted. The other US news stations posted about here just cover the same old junk night after night. I personally think they are bought and paid for, and can only cover certain topics, that the government allows.

    The BBC is more honest and open imo. The media coverage in the US is a joke and many things are purposefully left out. We are kept in the dark about many things in the US, and it's good to have the BBC to cover some of those areas, but even they don't cover them all.

    But all news coverage could still be more honest and open in all nations. The art of true journalism is a lost art when any "important" topic is considered too taboo to cover, and is therefore ignored or left out. Sadly this is what often happens, and not just in the US. Every other so-called free nation censors many important topics in their news broadcasts too.

    As for countries like China and Iran, well they have quite a ways to go but it's good to see them making some progress toward freedom, even if it's small.
