No Apple have not changed the prices very much on the iMac's during the last few years because of hardware upgrades and I am sure they won't do that now either.

Of course the price will differ between a 21" and a 27" etc... but otherwise I think the price will stay pretty much the same.

So waiting for Ivy Bridge and the new 7000 series from AMD is what I will do.
And hopefully Apple will start using desktop graphics from AMD as well.

Edit: FYI When Apple upgraded the iMacs from Core2Duo to the Core i5/i7 series they didn't change the price.

True about the prices seem consistent, either way the kids need a good computer with a printer for school work and what we are or going to spend on a desktop we might just get the imac and be done with it, hopefully for years to come.

I wonder what kind of security an iMac should offer.. browsing some websites where you can buy malware(stealers/trojaners) shows that there is just the same malware for OSX as it is for Windows. The only difference is that you have proper anti-malware tools on Windows but not on OSX. We live in times where drive-bys detect which OS you are using and download the malware for you OS in the backround :)

Consider that is very much cheap and easier to fix a PC than a MAC (hardware level)...

Probably true I guess but many people I know that have PC when then need a major hardware repair the cost about half of a new PC or about what its worth.Imac hold there retail vailue better then a PC and a few hundred dollar repair wouldn't even buy a used IMAC.There always extended warranty plains as well.

Truly. I have not seen Trjam keep one AV for so long as ESET. I'll have to give it a run in the new year.....if God so wills.
