I know its not your cup of tea J L;). But you don't need to research nothing, from within NoScript, you can get all the information you need to make the decisions about the sites that you thinking about allowing. Take a look at this link, you can get one like it for every site and you don't even have to use Google. You get it from within NoScript.

Just loaded a 30 day trial of Kaspersky AV. I plan on running either KasperskyAV or ESET Nod32 in 2014.

    EAM 8.1.0.33

    - File guard set to: scan only programs before they are executed
    - Memory usage optimization disabled
    - AppGuard processes are excluded from monitoring

In my opinion EAM is the least intrusive anti-malware.

    AppGuard 4.x (Medium)

    EMET 4.1 (Recommended security settings)

    Google Chrome 32

    - Plugins set click-to-play, built-in flash and pdf autoplay
    - Javascript disabled by default, enabled on certain domains
    - Disabled third-party cookies and website data
    - Lastpass with two factor authentication
    - AdBlock (Easylist + EL Germany, EasyPrivacy and AntiSocial)

    Other:

    - Online Banking with StarMoney
    - No Adobe Reader, PDX-XChange Editor instead
    - No Java

After a while of debating (about a year and a half), I finally pulled the trigger and bought Shadow Defender. Liking it so far! I've always been intrigued by light virtualization and even tried out Returnil but I found that to be rather lacking, unfortunately. Shadow Defender seems a bit more robust as well.

Also, being more of a lurker than a poster allowed me to make informed decisions on my ultimate security setup that I'm running at the moment.

    Thanks a bunch guys! <3

I created a web page today to show the two main approaches when using HTTP Switchboard (advantages/disadvantages): How to use HTTP Switchboard: Two opposing views.

Great! Just what I need to get a handle on this thing. Last night I read your comparison of HTTPSB and 3 other similar extensions, and if I read it right your results were quite a bit better (the check marks meant allowed, right?). https://github.com/gorhill/httpswit...-,-Ghostery-or-Disconnect-concerning-privacy?
I am determined to learn how to use it so it's not interfering too much with browsing, any information like this for a non-tech is appreciated.

Good Evening! Rompin! That's the thing with Kaspersky...it isn't Eset...WSA...Avast or Avira...time always the teller. When I had Avira I.S.2014 installed it wasn't as nimble as expected...and a full scan on my system clocked in at 2hrs 45minutes...now that might be rectified in repeated scans...but too long in my books. I took advantage of the Download Crew Offer $19.99...$21.88 Cdn dollar...got to be frugal for 2014 because Cdn dollar will take a beating this year. Frugality is the order of the year. Sincerely...Securon

I like what KIS offers but a little slow...NIS is light, as well as a few others. Fun to keep comparing! I got the Putin segment! Good one....:D

    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

    Google Chrome:

    • Disabled third-party cookies
    • Ghostery (blocking all trackers)
    • HTTPS Everywhere
    • LastPass
    • Bitdefender TrafficLight
    • Adblock Plus (EasyList + Malware Domains + Fanboy's Social Blocking List + EasyPrivacy)

    Norton ConnectSafe
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (PRO) - Protection Module deactivated
    Hitman Pro
    Keriver 1-Click Restore Pro

    ---------------------------------------

Any recommendations? I do not want to use any antivirus in real-time.

I was thinking of starting to use SpywareBlaster. What do you think?

Added Binisoft's Windows Firewall Control. A lot of nice improvements since last I used it. Also, it's nice to see a pretty solid frontend program for the built in Windows Firewall! :D

So this is what I have so far:

    Real-Time:
    -- Emsisoft Anti-Malware 8.1
-- Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro 1.75 (real time active)
-- Binisoft Windows Firewall Control -Paid- 4.0
    -- Blue Ridge AppGuard 4.0
    -- AdGuard Ad-Blocker 5.8 (loving this one a lot!)
    -- Keyscramber Premium

    Passive:
    -- SpywareBlaster AutoUpdate 5.0
    -- WinPatrol (latest version)
    -- Some minor OS hardening

    On-Demand:
    -- HitmanPro
    -- CyberGhost VPN Premium
-- Shadow Defender (I wish I got this one about a couple of years ago before I bought Returnil VSS :\)
-- Glary Utilities 4 Pro (used sparingly)
    -- VMware Workstation 10 (W7 x64 VM for banking/work/non-gaming stuff)

    Backup/Imaging:
-- Rollback Rx (had a bit of a minor issue when installing it the first time, I had a bad download, even though it went through and installed but the major drivers it uses somehow ended up corrupted which lead to my next purchase...)
-- Drive Snapshot: Talk about a very very robust imaging/backup solution. Not for novice users to say the least. It's flexibility though immediately clicked with the resident geek/nerd in me and I think I squee'd the first time I figured it out and got it to work perfectly.

Overall I'd like to think after a few times failing to launch with a solid security setup taught me a lot of what to do and what not to do in order to have a solid yet lightweight multi-layered security approach.

Again, thanks Wilders for the tips and tricks on getting a nice, solid multi-layered approach for computer security!

    - Coresix

    P.S. Ya'll rock! <3
