What is your security setup these days?

I know its not your cup of tea J L. But you don't need to research nothing, from within NoScript, you can get all the information you need to make the decisions about the sites that you thinking about allowing. Just loaded a 30 day trial of Kaspersky AV. I plan on running either KasperskyAV or ESET Nod32 in 2014.

 

EAM 8.1.0.33

- File guard set to: scan only programs before they are executed
- Memory usage optimization disabled
- AppGuard processes are excluded from monitoring

In my opinion EAM is the least intrusive anti-malware.

AppGuard 4.x (Medium)

EMET 4.1 (Recommended security settings)

Google Chrome 32

- Plugins set click-to-play, built-in flash and pdf autoplay
- Javascript disabled by default, enabled on certain domains
- Disabled third-party cookies and website data
- Lastpass with two factor authentication
- AdBlock (Easylist + EL Germany, EasyPrivacy and AntiSocial)

Other:

- Online Banking with StarMoney
- No Adobe Reader, PDX-XChange Editor instead
- No Java

 

After a while of debating (about a year and a half), I finally pulled the trigger and bought Shadow Defender. Liking it so far! I've always been intrigued by light virtualization and even tried out Returnil but I found that to be rather lacking, unfortunately. Shadow Defender seems a bit more robust as well.

Also, being more of a lurker than a poster allowed me to make informed decisions on my ultimate security setup that I'm running at the moment.

Running KIS with WSA Complete...but KIS just makes it a little slow.

 

Good Evening! Rompin! That's the thing with Kaspersky...it isn't Eset...WSA...Avast or Avira...time always the teller. When I had Avira I.S.2014 installed it wasn't as nimble as expected...and a full scan on my system clocked in at 2hrs 45minutes...now that might be rectified in repeated scans...but too long in my books. I took advantage of the Download Crew Offer $19.99...$21.88 Cdn dollar...got to be frugal for 2014 because Cdn dollar will take a beating this year. Frugality is the order of the year. -- Drive Snapshot: Talk about a very very robust imaging/backup solution. Not for novice users to say the least. It's flexibility though immediately clicked with the resident geek/nerd in me and I think I squee'd the first time I figured it out and got it to work perfectly.

Overall I'd like to think after a few times failing to launch with a solid security setup taught me a lot of what to do and what not to do in order to have a solid yet lightweight multi-layered security approach.
