I recently performed a full disk scan with NOD32 and it alerted me that it couldn't scan JETFEE5.tmp because it was locked. It's located in the windows/temp folder and lists a file size of 0kb. I tried to open it in notepad, but it said it couldn't be opened since it was in use by another process. I can't delete it, rename it, or move it because it's in use. What is this file? I did a search for the filename on a couple of different search engines and they returned 0 results. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Temporary files usually have random names so it's hard to determine what program it belongs to. I'd start Windows in safe mode and delete it.

I installed Unlocker (great tool, thanks for the tip!!) and it showed that the tmp file was in use by outpost.exe. The strange thing is that I have looked in the windows/temp folder numerous times before while using the Outpost firewall and no files appeared in the folder. Can anyone else who is running Outpost firewall confirm whether a file named JETFxx5.tmp appears in their windows/temp folder? (the x's represent a wildcard character, the filename changes from time to time)

I will confirm it for you. The jetxxx.tmp files are part of the jet database engine mechanics. When you view the logs for instance I think these are the "reports" for various filters.

Thanks for your help. It's good to know that the file is supposed to be there. :)
