    Hi,
    I have Acronis True Image Version 8.0 Build 796. I want to update to the latest build. I looked at the instructions in "Please read Before You Post" and it says, the best way to proceed with updating the product is: completely uninstall Acronis True Image from your system and reboot your computer. My question is what is the best way for me to uninstall completely? Use the uninstaler under All Programs/Acronis True Image/Uninstall Acronis? Control Panel Add/Remove? Anything else? By the way does uninstalling remove the image in the Secure Zone?
    Thank you.
    TER
    PS Is updating a good idea in the first place?

    Hi,

    I've never had a problem with uninstalling True Image via the Control Panel and in fact, with v8, usually simply installed over the top of the old build.

    And no - uninstalling the software won't have any effect on the Secure Zone. It and its contents will be available when you reinstall the new build.:cool:

    speaking of secure zone, I could not do an incremental because it said it could not automatically delete the old file like it said it could. I then deleted the secure zone and tried to create a secure zone in the place it was. It won't. Does anyone know what's wrong?

    Hello TER,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Actually, there should not be any problems installing the new build of Acronis True Image 8.0 over the old one.

    However, if you want to uninstall the old build anyway, then please follow Start->Run->Setting->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs->Acronis True Image in order to uninstall the program.

    As for removing Acronis Secure Zone, the uninstallation wizard should ask you about what exactly do you want to do with Acronis Secure Zone (it is not deleted by the default).

    You can download the latest build (937) of Acronis True Image 8.0 from: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

    To get access to updates you should create an account at:
    http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/
    then log in and use your serial number to register your software.

    If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

    Thank you.

    Hello 771,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please be aware that the backups saved to Acronis Secure Zone are deleted automatically if required. Acronis True Image uses the following scheme to clean up Acronis Secure Zone:

    - If there is not enough free space in the zone to create a backup, then Acronis True Image deletes the oldest full backup with all subsequent incremental/differential backups;

    - If there is only one full backup (with subsequent incremental/differential backups) left and a full backup is in progress, then the old full backup and incremental/differential backups are deleted;

    - Otherwise, (only one full backup left, and an incremental/differential backup is in progress) you will get a message about space error. In that case you will have to either re-create the full backup or increase the Acronis Secure Zone.

    You can always check how much free space is left in the zone on the second page of the Manage Acronis Secure Zone wizard.

    If that does not explain the situation then please provide me with the more detailed information on the problem:

    - Find the full version name and build number by going to Help -> About... menu in the main program window;

    - What operating system you use?

    - Have you received any error messages? What exact error messages? When exactly you received them?

    - Describe actions taken before the problem appears step-by-step.

    Thank you.

    Secure Zone and managing available space

    Hi,

    I'm new here, first post :)

    Regarding your statement:
    - If there is only one full backup (with subsequent incremental/differential backups) left and a full backup is in progress, then the old full backup and incremental/differential backups are deleted;

    -- I have my True Image 8.0 (latest build) set to create a full backup once a week, no incremental backups. Assuming there is enough space in the Secure Zone for multiple full backups, how does TI handle the deletion of older backups? Does it keep as many as can fit into the Zone and delete starting with the oldest? I'm not sure whether you're saying that only one full backup at a time is actually kept in the Zone. If that is the case, then will TI create the new backup first and THEN delete the previous one, or will it wipe the Zone out entirely, then create the new full backup?

    My concern is specificially with the scenario of deleting a previous full backup before creating the current one. This opens up a "disaster window" in which, should anything go terribly wrong, no backup would be available at all to restore the system from. While the chance of that happening is very, very remote, it is something I'm concerned about. In the event that a backup should fail AND the partition currently being backed up should fail at the same time (due to, say, a harddisk crash), then I would like to at least have the previous backup still there and available to restore from.
    (I back up from my primary drive to a secondary physical harddrive which holds the Secure Zone.)

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Secure Zone and managing available space

    Hello Taelon,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Yes, your assumption is quite correct and so there will not be any "disaster window" when there is no free space left in Acronis Secure Zone.

    Please also note that you can find more information on how to use Acronis True Image 9.0 in the respective User's Guide.

    If you have any further questions concerning Acronis software, please feel free to submit a request for technical support or post any of them on this forum. We will certainly try to help you in resolving any issues.

    Thank you.
