Ubuntu Web OS With Firefox Browser
Ubuntu Web is a new project that aims to build a Chrome OS alternative operating system combining the power of Ubuntu Linux and Mozilla’s Firefox browser. Unlike Chrome OS, it is based on Firefox that you can probably run on any computer.

Interestingly, the project was started by the same young developer, Rudra Saraswat, who recently launched Ubuntu Unity Remix and Ubuntu Education (UbuntuEd).

As of now, no further information has been revealed except for the announcement. The community is still in discussions to choose a lightweight graphical interface by default.

Allan Carvalho, one of the project members, says Ubuntu Web is a project that came to compete with Chrome OS, based on Firefox browser.

However, Ubuntu Web is not a new Linux-based competitor to Chrome OS. Earlier, we’ve witnessed several cloud-based operating systems like Apricity OS or Cub Linux, that aimed to become an alternative to Chrome OS.

Is it backed by Canonical or any hardware vendor? I don't see any indicators of that, so I assume it isn't.
It is great that such young person as Rudra chosen to do something like that, because of all that educational value to him and other people helping him, but I don't think it will become popular, so I don't understand why news spread that far.

Ubuntu flavors are recognized by Canonical but start up projects can take a few years to attain official status.

I would rather not spread the news to newbies about brand-new, not-backed flavors until theses prove themselves and stand the test of time.

It’s been over four months since I reported about the arrival of yet another Ubuntu-based Linux distribution called Ubuntu Web Remix.
So, if you were also waiting for it just like me, the wait is over because its creator, Rudra Saraswat, has finally announced and made its first stable release, Ubuntu Web Remix 20.04.1, available to download.

To remind you, after Ubuntu Unity and UbuntuEd, Ubuntu Web is the third unofficial Ubuntu remix distros by the same developer Rudra Saraswat.
Unlike the other two, Ubuntu Web Remix aims to be a web-centric operating system and an alternative to Google’s Chrome OS or Chromium OS.

Obviously, you can also install other Linux desktop applications using apt command line tool.
Surprisingly, Ubuntu Web does come with Anbox tool by default to install Android apps.

If you use /e/ Foundation’s Cloud Services, then Ubuntu Web gives you out-of-the-box support for integration. As Rudra Saraswat quotes Ubuntu Web will have tighter integration with the /e/ App Store too in near future.
