This thread was too old to reply to. I wondered what version of SSM people use now. The one I downloaded was 2 but a beta. Will work with ZA and stop dll injects to IE. Apologies if this is in wrong place, the original threasd was under ProcessGuard. Any feedback would be appreciated

Hi, privateperson, I have moved your post to this forum as it is not a direct PG support question and is open to many other lines of thought regarding proactive protection.

    Thanks Pilli :)

I'm still using 1.9.6 beta2. But you can get the latest version here http://syssafety.com/files.html but it will soon be payware- $25. US/EU, I think that will be the yearly price too, not a one time fee. :( Time to look for something else or use an older free version in my opinion.

  6. Hi The version i got was version 2 as that was the only one available at the link. I cannot remember where I linked from. On the EULA it says it will only work until 31 December 2005 so I have not installed.

You wrote "Time to look for something else or use an older free version in my opinion"
Can you suggest anything free to do the same job or where to get an older free version? And does it being beta make it less stable?
    Thanks

  7. I agree, I'm leaving SSM too, now that it's going payware.

Old versions of SSM are difficult to find. Maybe a google search will turn something up, if you want to take a chance on acquiring an old copy that way.

As far as I can remember the last version of SSM that won't expire was 1.9.4. I could be wrong, I can't remember anymore. Maybe someone else knows for sure.

AntiHook may be a good alternative to SSM, it is very powerful and it's free.

    Good luck. ;)

I switched to AH long time back and find it as good as SSM, the new update coming would have everything SSM has so I suggest you check that out as well, and yes, it is still free and will remain so for home use.

Care to provide a link to confirm this? I've not seen anything about a yearly price and SSM is not the sort of application that needs annual licencing like anti-virus scanners do.

  10. Does AH stop dll injects to trusted programs?

Yes, AH will stop any non approved DLL injection even to legit programs.

  12. Thanks :)
