:doubt: I wasn't sure where to post this so I figured I would give it a shot here.

I am almost computer illiterate. I just downloaded SpywareBlaster and I am working on figuring it out.
In the tools section there is a list of internet browser pages. Some of which I recognise as coming from when my browser was hijacked. How or where do I remove them from my system?

Also What is the Misc. IE setting section for?

Thank you to whomever takes pity on me and helps me out.

    Best wishes,
    Nancy

Sorry, I don't see how to edit what I posted...

I wanted to add. I use Spybot s&d to clean my system. ;)

    Hi Nancy,

Lets tackle them one by one shall we?
About the remnants of your browser hijack.
Could you please download Hijackthis from this site: http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
You´ll find a short explanation of the program there as well.
After unzipping and running the program, click Scan and then Save log.
Save the log as a txt file and copy the contents into your next post, if you´re not sure on how to remove the hijacktraces.

    Regards,

    Pieter

:'( Another download? with all these programs I will have no space left for me.LOL

I have these programs so that I do not get additional downloads. Can't this be done without add more software to my system?

I have been searching on the name Hijackthis and I have found this "Editors Note: Be carefull with this one(hijackthis). There is no UNDO. "
I do not like using programs that I can really screw-up my computer with.....remember I am basically computer illiterate.

    Spyware info says;
    " Fixing a hijack
Any of the products below will completely remove most hijackers, unless it is one which has just started spreading.

    Spybot S&D [recommended]
    Aluria Spyware Eliminator
    HijackThis"

I used Spybot and the hijack is fixed I just want to be rid of these remnants that spyware blaster found...I don't think they are active.

Isn't there a way to do this without adding another program to my home computer?

    Hi Nancy,

I wonder how you would get the impression of me making money by advertsing a free program. ;)
The site of the developer can be found here: http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/~merijn/
There is another way to get rid of them, but then I´d have to know which spywareprogram hijacked you. And it will most likely come down to editing your regsitry.
HijackThis can be removed after you´re done, it does not require a full install and it is about 140 kb in size.
Let me know what you prefer.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Sorry for the late reply.

You can use SpywareBlaster to change those pages: simply select an item in the list and press the "Change" button. A window will be displayed that will allow you to change that item. :)

If you are not sure what to change it to, you could also select each item that you want to know more about and press the "More Info" button. Then, you could post the name it gives you for each unknown item in this thread, and I'm sure someone (if not myself) will be happy to give you a default value you can change it to.

    Best regards,
