I have a few business customers using the ESet Administration server and I've been upgrading them to version 5.0.242. In general I haven't had any problem but I've got one server that after the upgrade can't seem to complete a download of updates from ESet. This server is running Server 2003, the drive that the administration server is installed on has plenty of free space; it's also up to date in terms of Window's updates. This is also not the only Server 2003 server that I have running the administration server but it's the only one having this problem.

On the server options screen I've tried checking "Clear update cache" and then clicking update now; I can see that the server starts downloading .nup files and does download about half a dozen and then throws this "Failed, Unknown error" and the date and time.

I searched for the era log file and this appears to be the relevant error message:

    [2012-12-09 09:07:30.796] V1 [50bec1a40000] [0000143c] <UPDATER_ERROR> Update failed, code: 4, aditional code 0x3405, aditional description Unknown error
    [2012-12-09 09:07:30.796] V1 [50bec1a40000] [0000143c] <UPDATER_ERROR> Creating mirror failed, code: 0x3405, description: Unknown error

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the administration server but after a reboot and reinstall I seem to have the same problem.

Does anyone have some insight into what could be the issues?

    Thanks,

    - Chris

Since it's been four days and I haven't gotten any response, I tried going back to the previous version 4.0.138.7 (which had been working prior to upgarding to version 5) and now I'm having a different issue.

After uninstalling version 5 of the ERA server, rebooting and installing version 4 and selecting all the update options and clicking "Update Now" the server downloads a fair number of .nup files and then fails with this error in the log:

    [2012-12-13 21:12:11.359] V1 [50ca7e670000] [00000b4c] <UPDATER_ERROR> Creating mirror failed, code: 0x2103, description: OBJECT_NOT_FOUND

As I've mentioned this is my only customer that's having this problem, does anyone have an idea about either of these errors and what to do to correct them?

    Hello Chris74656,

Try the steps below to fix the issue with the updates failing in the ESET Remote Administrator:

Navigate to the following folders and delete the contents within these folders.

Windows XP or Windows 2000/2003 Server:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\mirror

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\updfiles

Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 or newer:
    C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\mirror

Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 or newer:
    C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\updfiles

After you delete the contents of those folders, restart the "ESET Remote Administrator Server" Windows service.

Try the update again after performing these steps.

Thanks, that seems to have done the trick.
