Too little details, how was she infected? By rebooting the computer? Cause that's what the article implies, which is ridiculous.

Ridiculous or not, she was infected when a popup showed up on her laptop. I'm just the messenger...

Too little information provided and too many wild claims to take seriously. I've seen plenty of local news reports saying all kinds of crazy things about computer threats. Like not being detected by any AV. Who tested this to make that claim?

This sounds like the usual ransomware infections. They definitely shouldn't take three hours to remove, nor can I understand why an ISP would be needed to remove it.
