RoboForm?

I notice RoboForm is a free program to remember passwords, and fill in forms securely.

Is it safe, and is anyone here familiar with it?

What is you assessment of it?

I don't personally use it, But several people have talked about it favorably here in the past. I am sure someone will come by that has used it and give you a little more in depth review of the program.

I thought the free Roboform was only good for 30 days or so, and then it expires completely. But Keepass is free forever and open source too.

 

Where is Keypass available?
You may be correct about Roboform. I need to check that out.

Keepass is a very good program (they also have a PPC version available).

Two different animals. Keepass is good for what it does which is safely keep passwords in a large encrypted database with a nice UI made especially for passwords. Roboform is completely different. It places a small toolbar on your browser that when you surf upon a site that needs your password, Roboform knows this because of the URL, and the icon will show the name of the site, you just click on the icon and it inputs all password info. After you have used it awhile you'll wonder how you ever surfed without it. It is all encrypted and you have to insert a master password before it will work with ALL passwords until you close out of Roboform or it times out, whichever comes first. So really, you can't compare the two.

 

Thanks for the info. I started to install RoboForm, but decided against it. I was not sure what it was doing, and I know if it is not free I do not need it.

I've been using Roboform for a long time now. It's a wonderful piece of software, I would not be without it!

I agree - I tried various programs and found that Roboform does what I wanted it for. I believe the free version is just for 10 entries. The fee for Roboform is one time only.

I think I will reconsider it. Somehow when installing it seemed to want to do things that I was not sure were necessary. I also wondered if when it was completely installed if I could uninstall it. Maybe that is not a problem, and if it does protect passwords such as Paypal without losing or compromising them it would be very helpful.

Most of my pass words are such that I don't really care if they are compromised. However, a few would be damaging if compromised.
