Requesting that a special "Real-time file system protection Module" feature return.

NOD 4.0 Home had a Real-time file-system-protection-feature giving the user the option to be notified by email if a threat alert was triggered on his computer. In addition, you could have that threat alert emailed to any email address of your choice.

Permit me to give you several examples that describe how useful that feature was. While I was at work I could receive email messages alerting me if any of my family members had triggered a threat alert on my home computers, and when at home I would be notified on my personal computer if any of my kids had triggered a threat alert while they were using their computer.

EDIT: I also have a sister living in Hong Kong, during my last visit I installed NOD 4.0 Home on her computer and configured it to notify me whenever a threat alert was triggered on her computer too. This allows me to assist her.

NOD 5.0 Home did not retain this feature. Could you please reinstall it.

I am requesting that it be returned to our Home user purchases like it was before. It is not fair to have this feature taken away from us and be compelled to purchase the more expensive business model. Also note the Edit in my post informing readers that my sister in Hong Kong configured her computer to let me know when a threat alert comes in, my 'coming home to check her logs' is out of the question.

 

Ok, but tell me what you can do from work if it alerts you, compared to coming home and checking logs. I mean I like the feature to, but it wont be back in this version, so it is either accept it, or move on.

 

You are missing the point, we had the feature in our NOD Home 4.0 and it was taken away from us, if we want it back we are obligated to purchase the more expensive NOD for business.

Did you not see that I have it installed on computers in another country too? Instead of supporting my justified request you type accept it or move on? Please cease diluting my justified request and permit the developers to return the feature, thank you.

Exactly, and remotes like that permit me to assist my sister on her distant computer when notified by NOD 4.0 that she triggered an alert.

To restate my point, we had the feature; it was an acknowledged useful feature on Home 4.0; it is still being implemented by ESET. We already paid an upgrade fee to progress from Home User 4.0 to 5.0 - only to discover that this useful feature was removed - and, if we want to have returned what was taken away, we have to pay a premium?

There is no fee for valid licence holders to upgrade from v4 Home to v5 Home.

If you don't like a particular feature (or lack of it) in v5 then just stick with v4 anyway.

 

Thank you. You are correct, while there was no requirement to pay for the upgrade to version 5, I never-the-less had to pay a justified fee to obtain my license renewals. I equated the obligation to pay for renewals of licenses - which by progression includes version 5 - as an upgrade cost. By definition, yes there is no upgrade cost.

True, but would I not then be deprived of the benefits of the version 5 upgrade? Please don't misunderstand my asking that question, am not posing it as a rebuttal to your suggestion. Are there not sufficient improvements and/or additions in version 5 to justify not remaining with version 4?

May I ask ESET what was the justification to remove this feature from 4.0 home licensees? It was working fine for us and ESET still designates it to be a valued feature or else they would not have made it available on the more costly business licenses.

Good upgrades improve upon and retain useful features, not remove them. As it is now I am obligated to purchase the more expensive business licenses if I want to have an upgrade that retains the useful feature.
